March Top Droppers

A word of thanks to my top droppers for March

New Dilemma

Now, the question is, how many of you actually read my posts rather than drop and go?

I also want to thank eveyrone that has swung by, commented, or comnriubted in anyway to this month's blogging experience. Until next month!

Come and Meet the Letter People

One of the things I remember the most from my kindergarten days (besides half days, snack and nap time) was the Letter People. So, you can imagine my surprise when my sister asked me to see if I can find some stuff on then for her. Apparently she's doing something on them for her thesis and needs this.

Anyway, I've asked around and most of my friends look at me like I'm crazy when I ask them about these guys. Yeah, we all know Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood, 3-2-1 Contact, Where in the World is Carmen San Diego? , and to a lesser extent, maybe even Square One (not to be confused with Channel One which was forced on all of our eyes and ears every morning at school), but why is such a classic show like The Letter People gets forgotten? How many, if any of you remember this?

Maybe this will ring a bell...

Now, who remembers them? Or am I still in the minority here?

No more June?

OK, I know that some people don't care for President Obama, and that we are in a financial crisis and whatnot, but yesterday as I was standing in line at Wal Mart, I glanced over at one of the tabloids. Usually I pay them no mind. most of the time they all say the same thing about this person is fat (even though they're not), this person is too skinny, this couple is breaking up, Oprah is going to take over the world, etc, etc. However, one of the covers had something about Obama getting rid of the month of June as a way to save billions.

How ridiculous can you get? In the first place, he can't get rid of June. That would have to be a world decision, and quite honestly, I just don't see it actually saving money by getting rid of a month. I didn't read the article, so maybe they had some "facts" in there, but I doubt it was anything more than just a way to catch people's eye and waste ink.

Of course, if this was to actually happen, a couple of very important women (the little woman and my mom) in my life would be none too happy...or maybe they would since they would never get any older...lol

Eye Candy 3/29

Female Hottie(s): Girls Next Door (Holly Madison, Bridget Marquardt,Kendra Wilkinson)

(order l-r)Kendra, Holly, and Bridget have to be some of the most famous Playboy models of all time. However, it appears that with their recent split with Hugh Hefner, that they are getting serious about their careers. Kendra (and her annoying laugh) will be getting her own reality show on E!. Bridget (my favorite) has her own show on Travel Channel called Bridget's Sexiest Beaches, and Holly (the pretties one) is currently competing on Dancing With the Stars. Only time will tell what happens to them in the future, but in the meantime, we cannot deny their hotness (with or without clothes on).

Male Hottie: Nathan Fillion

I've had threats on my life for not giving this guy this spot, so in an effort to please more than a few of my female readers (especially those that I live with), I give you Nathan. Die hard sci-fi fans will know him best from the short lives series Firefly and it's follow up movie Serenity. Currently, he is starring on the new ABC Series Castle.

Random Hottie from a movie or TV show seen this week: Malin Akerman

Up and coming actress Malin Ackerman is just really getting her career started. Remember her as Freakshow's wife in Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle? No, well, you're probably more familiar with the role that earned her this spot, Silk Spectre II in The Watchmen (awesome movie, btw. go see it if you haven't already). With a major blockbuster like that under her belt, I'm sure she's bound to be around for a little while, at least.

MILF: Constance Marie

One of the main reason I ever, or still watch The George Lopez Show was the uber sexy Constance Marie(not that there was anything wrong the the show, mind you). I think you can tell why. I had no idea she was a mom, but apparently she gave birth to a baby girl in February.

Classic/Retro Hottie: Valerie Bertinelli

I have to give credit where credit is due. Valerie Bertinelli has worked hard at getting that body, with theh elp of Jenny Craig. Now, I wasn't around, or old enough to remember when she was one of "America's sweethearts" on One Day at a Time, but from what I hear and pictures I've seen, she was a doll, and still is. Eat your heart out Eddie Van Halen!

Temporary cutback

The next month or so are gonna be hella busy for me, so chances are I may or may not be doing alot of dropping and/or blogging. This is also due to the fact that I am growing weary of Entrecard.

When I first joined I thought it was one of the best things since sliced bread since it actually brought traffic to my site (although very few people comment), but nowadays it has just become a nuisance to go through and drop. Not that I don't enjoy reading your blogs, but I'd rather read them because I want to, not because I feel obligated to reciprocate a drop.

As far as blogging goes, I'm not sure if you've noticed, but my posts have been a little more sparse the past few weeks. There are two reasons for this. One is that I've been working on my other blog (the one that none of you ever bother to read or comment on here(i bet none of you go there, still). The second is just a matter of writer's block/not having anything to say. It happens, I guess.

So, I just wanted to let you all know. Chances are if you're one of my normal dropees or have an ad running or are running an ad from me, you're guaranteed a drop (pending computer issues). Otherwise, I can't promise anything.

When things calm down, I will return to my regular dropping schedule, hopefully.

Traffic woes

Growing up in mostly small towns, traffic jams were something I would only see on television. Now that I live in a big city, they are almost an everyday occurrence.

One thing that really gets my goat about these jams, though, is how people will drive on the shoulder until it runs out and then force themselves in. Seriously, is that going to get you anywhere any faster? Honestly, you're not doing anything but possibly causing an accident and more frustration for those that are already ready to get where we're going.

This is also something that happens close to red lights. Usually it's someone in a truck or sports car. They'll be in such a rush that they'll pass everyone up, then run into a red light. When that happens, I just sit back there and laugh. They were in such a big rush and really didn't get anywhere. lol

I don't Tweet

As I stated in my previous blog, Facebook has been having some issues. They were tremporarily resolved late last night, but have returned this morning. UGH! However, that's not what this post is about.

I don't know how many of you Twitter, but I don't. However, more than a few people have said that I'm on there and are following me. Now, if I was a celebrity and someone creted an account saying they were me, I wouldn't be surprised, but I'm no one special. I'm a mystery to most people, hence the name Mystery Man. I've e-mailed the twitter folks and told them about it. Hopefully, they'll remove it.

I'm sure I will eventually cave in and start tweeting, but that time is not now.

Facebook issues

How many of you use facebook? Have any of you had the same problem I've recently been encountering. I've logged in, and then all of a sudden it locks up. Initially, I thought it was a computer problem, but facebook is the only site that has that issue. Not to mention, it does the same thing on any computer I use.

Turns out that I'm not alone in this problem, but since facebook is not known for helping out (or caring) about the people that use their site, its not likely anything will get remedied in the foreseeable future. *SIGH* In the meantime, I'll just have to wait for the chance to slip in.

At least the issue isn't with my comp, so that's a relief.

Maybe there is justice!

I just read an article that said the company that makes the ugliest shoes in the world, crocs, may be going under. Now, its never a good thing for a business to go under. I don't want people to lose jobs. They work hard to make thise ugly things, but those are ungodly ugly and I'll be gladto see them gone. Whoever came up with them needs to be drug out into the street and shot!

Until thathappens, i'll just be content to know that they're losing popularity.

I'm a virus?

So, I was doing my usual dropping last night, and apparently, quite a few sites seemed to think that my electronic signature or something is similar to a virus of some sort. so, they denied me access for a few minutes. All the blogs that told me this seemed to have been hosted by the same site, too. Don't ask me which one it was, I don't know. So far this morning, though, I haven't had any issues.

I have to wonder, though. Over the weekend I downloaded Internet Explorer 8, and deleted this mystery folder that had been on my computer taking up space and holding nothing but viruses.

When I ran my virus scan on Sunday, it came up totally clean. Not sure how I like that. I mean, I'm happy that there was nothing to find, but at the same time, I know that some sites have viruses that just come with the territory. So, I'm wondering about that.

What say you, my dear readers?

Eye Candy 3/22

Female Hottie: Drew Barrymore

Remember when she was the cute little girl in E.T.? Since then, she's had some personal ups and downs, but one thing is for sure, she has steadily gotten hotter over the years. Personally, I'm not a fan of her recent weight loss because she looked just fine the way she was, but at least she didn't become a twig.

Male Hottie: Luke Wilson

Luke is the slightly lesser known, more serious brother of Owen Wilson. He typically plays the straight man to someone else's comic folly, and according to more than a few of my female and gay male friends, he keeps it sexy. I wish I knew what they were talking about, but whatever. Look and enjoy! Oh, and he starred with Drew in both Charlie's Angels films as well as Home Fries. Just an interesting tidbit.

Random Hottie from a movie or TV show seen this week: Julie Ann Emery

Just like last week, we bring you another totally random entry for the random hottie. Julie Ann Emery has done guest spots on various television shows, but she may best be known for the role that earned her this spot, playing Casey (Eva Medes' best friend) in Hitch. One can only wonder why we haven't and if we'll ever see more of her in the future.

MILF: Gillian Anderson

When I was in high school, I had the hugest crush on Gillian. She was the main reason I watched X-Files. Nowadays, she has fallen off the map a bit, but resurfaces every now and then. I wonder if she's passed her good genes on to her daughter. Hmmm...

Classic/Retro Hottie: Brigitte Bardot

While I don't agree with some statements Brigitte made a few years back, I can't deny her beauty. In her heyday, she and Marilyn Monroe were the living embodiment of sex appeal. That's some comparison when you talk sex appeal, if you ask me. She retired from acting in 1973, but her influence continues to last.

Crack is whack

A great sadness has fallen over me today. I just finished my last box of Girl Scout cookies. Like alot of people, I love those things, but I sometimes wonder if one of the ingredients in them is crack. They're so addictive. It's like that ad campaign they used to have for Pringles or some kind of chips, "betcha can't eat just one". Well, its about like that. I've seen people devour whole boxed in a single setting. Geesh!

Oh well, at least I have my fruit to snack on now.

Food stuffs

A couple of things I was thinking about today.

This morning the little woman made me pancakes. No big, but I was looking at the Mrs. Butterworth bottle and realized that she doesn't have the round bottom that she did back in the day. I got to thinking...is this some sort of way to cut costs or just someone who has issues with body image and felt she needed to go on a diet to lose it. What do you think?

The other thing I was pondering was these "new" items on Burger King's menu. I believe they're called double shots. Normally, this wouldn't be a big deal, but I seem to remember when I was in jr. high they had the same thing but they were called burger buddies. They also had bundles (3 sandwiches) before then. So, why bring them back and change the name? Do they think people actually forgot about their previous incarnation?

Just a couple of things that were going through my head and I thought I'd share with you, my faithful readers. Let me know what you think.

Spring has sprung

So, yesterday was the official first day of spring, but I have to say today feels more like it. Here it 7 in the morning and a symphony of lawnmowers just started up. I don't know about you, but to me that;s one of the surefire signs that it's spring. Along with the pollen that covers the cars and warm weather.

Oh, and yesterday was my parent's 38th anniversary. In these days there aren't many marriages that last that long, so it always warms my heart to know that they're still together...plus they're my parents...lol

Busy, Busy, Busy

For those of you who are normal readers of my blog, you may have noticed that I haven't been around much this week, except for my weekly features and a holiday post. The reason for that is that I've been hella busy this week since we were hosting district band festival (if you really want to know what that is, I'm can tell you) here. My drops this week, have been strictly on favorites and those that I'm advertising or that are advertising on me (excluding a couple that I clicked on here and there). During my time away, alot has happened and since I haven't had a good rant in a while, what better time, right?

First off, let me start with Entrecard. Chances are, if you're reading this, then you came here from Entreacrd. I read the new rules. Obviously, there is no issue with the card being above the fold, but like many of you, I was not happy about the possibility of having to pay for rejecting adds and have a third party ad. In case you haven't noticed, this blog is mostly ad free. I like it that way, and apparently many of you do, too. I could just see it now. There would be a very interesting blog advertising through Entrecard, and then the 3rd party ad would be something Tampax. WTF?!? I don't wanto be advertising tampons on here, y'know? Thankfully, they actually listened to the masses and didn't go through with it, this time. However, it did make me realize that I am getting bit burned out with Entrecard. I know that without it, I'd probably have little to no traffic, but the dropping is just getting to be a bit much. I'm considering cutting back big time. Pretty much only dropping as I did this week, but we'll see.

I must have angered the computer gods. Why, you ask? Well, my laptop gave me the blue screen of death earlier this week. Then my computer at work decided to do the same thing. Then, the computer I was using in the library decided to go all wonky and do the same thing. I find it hard to believe that 3 computers have the same issue like that, especislly since 2 of them have never had any issues like this before. Luckily, my laptop and work computer are fine. Had the computer guy check them out. It was a fluke, but I must wonder what I did to anger the computer gods this week. I remember back in college, a friend and I had a running gag, where that whenever I said something bad about a computer something bad would happen. You may laugh at that, but seriously, files, papers, etc., were lost because I layed a verbal smackdown on computers. Don't remember saying anything this week, though. Of course, I did have some thoughts. Hmmm...can the computers have advanced so far that they can read thoughts, now? We should all be afraid...VERY afraid...lol

A good friend of mine recently left for basic training. No big, right? Wrong! I have no issue with her dropping out of school to join the military, especially since they're paying for it. I am a military supporter. I never enlisted, but gave it some serious thought years ago. I was however in AFROTC in high school and my dad is retired from the Air Force. Enough about me, though, back to her reason for joining...to lose weight! That's right. She joined the Air Force for 5-15 yrs just so she can lose weight. I'm sure you're in shock about that. I know I was. I mean, her life isn't exactly in order, so when she first told me she was joining, I figured it was as a way to get her life back in order, but joining to lose wight???WTF?!? I would say this is my most bonheaded friend, but that goes to a band director friend of mine who got fired last year.

Now, before I go to far into this, let me say that I had no knowledge of any of these activities until it came on the news. Just goes to show you that no matter how well you know someone, there are things that you just don't know. It's one thing to notice an attractive student, quite another to make advances toward them. I don't know where he is or how the case is going, but I do hope that he gets some help and one day will be able to return to teaching.

Changes are coming to both my blogs. Nothing major here, just think its about time for a change to my card. I'm open to suggestions. Not sure what I'm going to go with, but as you can tell by reading this blog, it'll be something random. On my other blog, I've made a few changes, such as new categories and a drop down menu where you can find the previous blogs. However, I'm thinking of changing the layout. I'm going to see how it works next week when I try it out. If any of you ever go red it, please leave a comment. What can I say, I'm a comment whore...lol You may visit my movie blog here. Weekends are the best time to visit, though, since that's when I watch and review most of my movies, but that doesn't mean you can't visit any other day. I look forward to seeing what you have to say. (Yes, this was another shameless plug...lol)

I've noticed something about us Americans. We aren't a very forgiving country. Why do I say that? Well, Michael Jackson announced his farewell tour recently in London to nothing but cheers. Now, had that have happened over here, he might have gotten a few cheers, but for the most part people would have boos him or just stood there. I'm sure people in London know about his alleged child molestation, but they don't seem to care. Over here, heaven forbid we let something go and realize that one of the greatest entertainers of all time is officially about to retire. I can just see something similar happening when Michael Vick is able to return to the NFL. The man was all but crucified for running a dog fighting ring. Now, I'm not going to say dog fighting is right, but I will say that the way people reacted to the news was worse than the way they would react if he would have raped and killed a woman. I may be a bit biased, though, since I'm not a dog person.

So far I've been a supporter of Obama, but a policy he (or his cabinet) proposed either this week or last really isn't sitting well with me. I'm not sure about all the details, but the idea is to extend the school year to year round and extend school hours. The way it was explained makes sense, in that the idea is meant to be able to help American students compete better worldwide. However, I can see a revolt or riot happening if this comes to fruition. Children (and some teachers) are too ADD to sit there that long, not to mention they won't be too happy about losing their summer vacation. Again, I say, I don't know all the details.

Speaking of Obama, he seems to be getting some flack for filling out a NCAA tournament bracket(with almost the exact same picks as I did, btw). Some people are pissed that he took time to fill out one, rather than use that time to fix the economy. I'm taken aback by this. Yes, he is charged with the task of fixing our economy and all, but is the man not allowed to do anything else? What's next, are these people going to say he's not allowed to spend time wit his family? People need to calm down! (I do like how he took the time to go to NBA game and sat with the fans...even smack talked one of them...other presidents thought they were too high and mighty to do that and only sat in the box)

I actually had a few other thing to say, but I can't think of them right now. Hope you're all enjoying your first day of spring!

Hope you're wearing green

Haven't been around much today, but I wanted to wish you all

Happy St. Patrick's Day

So, who caught a leprechaun, won his gold and is willing to share? lol

Eye Candy 3/15

Female Hottie: Kelly Clarkson

The original American Idol, Kelly Clarkson is our first piece of Eye Candy this week. With the recent release of her new album All I Ever Wanted, and a new hit in "My Life Would Suck Without You", Kelly is back! Sure she's put on a few lbs since her American Idol days, but who of us can say they're the same size they were 7 years ago? One thing about Kelly, though, is that she doesn't get as ripped for having meat on her bones the way others do. Guess they're know better than to mess with someone from Texas!

Male Hottie: Terence Howard

Guess who turned 40 this week? Yes, Terence Howard. As a huge fan of this summer's Iron Man, I'm more than a little disappointed that he won't be reprising his role as James Rhodes, but I'm sure he'll get more than a few other roles. In the meantime, let's hope he enjoyed his birthday.

Random Hottie from a movie or TV show seen this week: Laura Fraser

Our random hottie is totally random. Laura Fraser is a Scottish actress, but has had a few American roles, such as in the short lived sitcom Titus, and the movies Vanilla Sky and A Knight's Tale, the latter of which earned her this spot. Hopefully she'll do more roles over here in the states, soon.

MILF: Marcia Cross

I'll admit it, I have a thing for redheads, and this woman is one of the top MILF redheads, so of course she was eventually going to make an appearance here. Look at that body! Can you believe she gave birth to twins? I may have to start watching Desperate Housewives just so I can get more of Marcia.

Classic/Retro Hottie: Elizabeth Montgomery

We all know Elizabeth from Bewitched, but she did have roles other than that iconic show. She was Lizzie Borden in The Lizze Borden Story and starred in A Case of Rape, both of which earned her Emmy nominations. Sadly we lost her in 1995 to cancer, but she's not forgotten.

Remembering the good old days

This week, the little woman has been away every night helping set up for this big party that she's in charge of for her club. While she's been away, I've had to fend for myself. It's been like I was single again. As a matter of fact, I think I've lost 5 lbs...lol

No big, but it has been a bit lonely around here at night. The party is Saturday, so hopefully next week will be back to normal.

The house will definitely be cleaner since there won't be anymore construction projects taking up space...lol

Stay out of it

Not too long ago, there was a YouTube sensation that was both funny and chastised the media and people for their over scrutiny of Britney Spears. Remember this?

So, what's the point of all this? Well, I'm sure you've all seen the whole Rihanna/Chris Brown drama. Now, I'm not going to sit here and defend Chris Brown. Domestic violence is wrong, no matter which way you look at it, but it Rhianna wants to get back together with him, then why are people so pissed off about it?

Yeah, he hit her, but did you ever stop to think that he makes her happy? On top of that, folks are pissed because she didn't file a restraining order or something like that, can't remmebr exactly what is.

So, apparently, everyone knows what's best for Rihanna except Rihanna. This whole thing is so frustrating. Not only am I tired of hearing about it, but I also grow weary of the people that think they know what's best, because they don't. They just think they do so they can hear themselves talk and make it seem like they're concerned.

Hopefully this will all go away soon, but until then you can rest assured more "authorities" will be weighing in. Ugh!!!!

Shameless plug

Yep, it's time for another shameless plug for my other blog. Those for you that are die hard Disney fans, like me, may find my newest post interesting. Have a look here.

Those of you that do actually go and read it (the link is always there on the side of this blog for those that don't), thanks and don't forget to leave comments. Some changes are coming in the next few days to make the experience better.

Musical Monday

I'm running a little late on this Musical Monday. Those of us that were around back in the 80s may remember Mac Tonight from those McDonald's commercials. Here's a compilation of those commercials.

Now in case you didn't know, the song he's singing is "Mack the Knife". It was originally composed by Kurt Weill for The Three Penny Opera, but has been covered by many artists. Perhaps the best known of these is done by the great Louis Armstrong. Enjoy!

Eye Candy 3/8

Female Hottie: Cheryl Burke

With Dancing with the Stars returning to the air tomorrow night, I think its about time we bring you the hottest woman on that show, Cheryl Burke. Sad part is, the season hasn't even started and people are already attacking her about her weight. *SIGH* I'm not gonna get on my soapbox about that right now, just now that she's beautiful no matter what size she is (as are all women).

Male Hottie: Anderson Cooper

For those of you who don't know Anderson, he has his own show on CNN called Anderson Cooper 360 and his mother is Gloria Vanderbilt. As far as anyone can tell, this man is single, but he keeps his personal life private, so your guess is as good as mine.

Random Hottie from a movie or TV show seen this week: Bridget Regan

Bridget isn't a household name, yet, but her role on Legend of the Seeker (which earned her this spot) may change that, not to mention the fact that she did some time on Sex and the City. Hopefully we'll see more of her in the future.

MILF: Kelly Ripa

The bubbly co-host of Live with Regis and Kelly is this week's MILF. When she first joined Regis, it seemed like all she was doing was popping out kids with husband Mark Consuelos, but since having her last daughter, that hasn't been the case. Aside from her talk show, Kelly starred in All My Children, where she met her husband, and the sitcom Hope & Faith.

Classic/Retro Hottie: Jackee Harry

Known in the 80s simply as Jackee, this classic beauty was the sexy Sandra on 227. Afterwards, she had a major role on Sister, Sister. Recently she had a stint on Celebrity Fit Club and is currently a recurring character on My Name is Chris. She may not look like she 20 yrs or so again, but she's still a sexy vixen.

Time for a Change

For those of us that live in the US, tonight we have to spring forward, unless you live in AZ or certain parts of Indiana. I've never understood that, but anyway. Just wanted to give everyone a friendly reminder (including myself)

I can't take it anymore

I'm sure I'm not the only one that's tired of being over saturated with certain things from the media. Why can't we all just collectively stand up and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!! Here are just a few things that have raised my ire with having to deal with them every....Single...DAY!!!!

Octomom: Enough is enough. This woman has like 14 kids and has been everywhere since her litter of 8 was born. Ok, we get it, she had 8 kids. Now let her get on to raising them. There is no need for her to be famous for this popular. Of course, I think part of it has to be with her resemblance to Angelina Jolie. Speaking of which...

Angelina Jolie: Remember back in the day when she wasn't globetrotting? How about before she was a home wrecker? Or how about those days when she actually had meat on her bones? Today she's just a caricature of herself and seems to think it's her duty to save all the children of her world with hubby Brad Pitt (whom she stole from Jennifer Anniston, mind you). I bet she would win some awards if she'd put some meat on her bones (she was scary skinny in Wanted and stop trying to save the world's children.

A-Rod: This poor guy. Now, make no mistake, its his own fault for doing steroids, but can't this guy get some peace. He admitted his wrong. Now, let him do his job. Besides, as soon as he sneezes t he New York media is gonna say that was something he did because he hates Derek Jeter. Of course, his injury may be a blessing in disguise for him...or curse.

How to get flatter abs: I'm one of those guys that loves a nice set of abs on a woman...if they look nice and still feminine. Guys with abs just make me jealous. However, it seems like every magazine I see these days has something about how to get flat abs. I know there are health reasons and all, but there comes a time when enough is enough. I could swear I saw an ad on a TV Guide. Good grief, people!

Bad news: I know that we're not exactly living in the best of times right now, but it seems as if the media is hell bent on making things seem as bleak as possible. Say something positive, please! No wonder everyone is depressed. I bet The Great Depression was more about news outlets shelling out bad news than about money...lol No, not really, but ii may have had a hand in it.

Obama bashing: The man has only been in office for, like, what, 2 months. I swear, people were jumping all over him from day 1. Give him time to get stuff done. Rome wasn't built in a day, y'know? Now, if in a year or two things are still in the same spot they're in now, feel free to bash away, but until then, ease off and let him do his job.

Rush Limbaugh: This fat blowhard has never received any love for me, but this whole thing where he said he hopes Obama's plan fails just pushed him to the top of my @#%$@# list. I don't know about you, but that just sounded like he was hoping the country would go to hell in a handbasket and then because he "warned" people, folks could unite behind him. In other words Limbaugh= Hitler.

Reality TV and crime dramas: As I've said in previous blogs, and will more than likely keep saying, I AM NO FAN OF REALITY TV. Crime dramas aren't exactly high on my list, either. Unfortunately, on any given day on TV you'll see most of these (most of which are spin-offs of CSI and Law & Order), while sitcoms and comedies seem to have gone the way of variety shows. Hell, reality has taken over MTV and is eroding TV Land.

Stick thin actresses: I'm a man who like my women to have some meat on her bones. It's one thing to be naturally skinny...a la Cameron Diaz, but quite another to be anorexic looking...a la the current state of Lindsey Lohan. Whatever happened to the days when actresses were normal looking. I was watching I Dream of Jeannie the other day, and Jeannie and this other woman that was on there were quite curvy, but nowhere near fat. Sadly, today, they would be considered obese by Hollywood standards.

Athletes: No, I'm not tired of athletes, but rather the way they turn down and/or ask for more money. They make multi-million dollars, but always want more. I can't remember who it was, but not that long ago, some guy said he couldn't live on his $12 million dollar/yr salary (not sure if that figure is right, but you get the idea). I can only wish to make that much money on my lifetime!

Heidi & Spencer I don't know anything about these two other than they are "reality royalty" and the stars of The Hills. Now, being that stars of a show is ok, but they seem to be as delusional as Paris Hilton in thinking they have talent. As a matter of fact Heidi released a song a while back and it made people's ears bleed it was so bad. Spencer seems to think he's a better producer than names such as Quincy Jones, Babyface, Smokey Robinson, etc.

Hannah Montana(Miley Cyrus) & the Jonas Brothers: Remember when Disney used to stand for quality animation and family programming? Now they seem to be all about Pixar and pushing these tween "stars". Nothing against Pixar, they're cool in my book, but these tweens are annoying the hell out of me. First, there's Miley Cyrus who is more or less living on her dad's name. Speaking of her dad, he's riding her coattails in an attempt to be something more than a one hit wonder. It's quite creepy, this symbiotic relationship between the two. AS far as the Jonas Brothers go. They have talent. I won't deny them that, but not enough to be anything more than a novelty act or a hit here and there and will be gone soon enough. After watching them butcher Stevie Wonder's "Superstition" at the Grammy's, I officially made up my mind that they need to go. Poor Stevie just had to go with the flow. The next night, he performed the same song at the BET awards and you could tell he was much happier...lmao Both Miley and the Jonas' has had concert movies. Why? Because Disney has become all about sucking tween (and their parent's) money. Make no mistake, 5 yrs from now, we'll be seeing the Jonas Bros and Miley Cyrus on one of those VH1 flashback shows. Miley may have a career in movies or TV. Her show isn't that bad, but her music is horrendous.

There are quite a few other things that irk me. I'm sure you all have things you're tired of hearing about, too. Feel free to share.

Crying over #2

So, this weekend, as we all know, unless you're lucky enough to have avoided the over hyping, the Jonas Brothers released their movie. Well, apparently, it underperformed according to the projections and comparisons to last year's Hannah Montana movie (which was pretty much the same thing from what I hear). I don't know exactly how much it made, but it came in #2 this weekend.

I told my students about this and about 3 or 4 girls started bawling. I mean literally broke down into tears. You would think I would have told them their parents died or something. I, and the rest of the class, were wondering what was wrong with them when this was going on.

I understand being a fan and all, but crying over a movie being #2? Seriously, that's a bit much. It's not like they made bets with their life savings on them being #1 this weekend...as far as I know. Still, #2 is nothing to sneeze at. I'm sure the Street Fighter movie would love to have been #2, as would every other movie that's out right now.

So, am I the only one that thinks this reaction was a bit much?

Green Acres is the place to be

Alright, so its no secret that I like older TV shows. Well, I was watching I Love Lucy this morning and this thought came to me. If you listen to the theme songs of older TV shows alot of them are memorable, catchy, and you can't get out of your head. That can't be said about anything that's on TV right now...well, maybe some stuff on Nickelodeon.

I mean, think about the last 10 yrs. Can you actually sing or hum the theme song to anything that's been on? Other than Friends, I can't, and that's just because that thing was plastered on the radio when it first came out. Obviously, Spongebob Squarepants, Catdog, and Fairly Oddparents are all catchy, but I wasn't really considering them. I was talking about such programs as CSI, Law and Order, South Park, Will and Grace, etc.

Where did the composers of such cheesy, yet memorable theme songs such as Batman, Wonder Woman, I Love Lucy, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, Hawaii 5-0, Mucha Lucha, Green Hornet, Cheers, Golden Girls, Saved by the Bell, Perry Mason, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Green Acres, Sanford and Son, The Andy Griffith show, Happy Days, etc, disappear to? Now it seems as thought they're getting paid a hefty sum for like 30 seconds of fluff? I could be wrong. I mean, they could very well think that each one is their masterpiece, but other than some Nickelodeon cartoons, I can't think of anything that sticks in my head...wait...Family Guy and American Dad do, but that's 2 out of how many? Guess I'm just being anally critical or something? What theme songs from now or then stick in your head?

One Ring to rule them all

Tonight I finished the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Now, before you start freaking out and wondering why I haven't finished it before now, its quite simple. First of all when the movies came out, I was with someone that thought Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and other such things were evil because that's the way her parents raised her...yet she loved Charmed! Secondly, all 3 movies are about 4 hrs long and I have a short attention span and ADD, so for me to sit through these movies is a miracle in itself.

I have seen the first 2 installments before, though, but this was the first time I got to see Return of the King. I have nothing bad to say about the trilogy, other than the excessive length. I detest movies that are quite lengthy. If I wouldn't have been interested, I'd probably totally pissed off about how long it was.

Clerks II has a (rather funny) scene where they debate about which is better Lord of the Rings or Star Wars. Anybody with half a brain knows Star Wars is a thousand times better, but for this generation, LOTR will do...although there is Harry Potter.

Something needs to be done about the left turn league

I've always wondered what the fascination is with NASCAR. I mean, its a bunch of cars going around a circle making a bunch of left turns for 3-5 hrs. Heaven forbid someone's car has some sort of issue, then they go under this caution flag and keep going around and around, wasting gas, but not really moving the race forward.

Obviously, you can say that track is the same kind of thing, but the difference is track uses humans and only last 10 min tops. You can also make the case that basketball, hockey, and football just go back and forth, but at least people find those sports exciting. I myself am huge football fan and really like basketball. Hockey, not so much but I haven't really been exposed to it as much.

Anyway, so yesterday there was some sort of big NASCAR race. I don't have a problem with the race being on, but when you go over and interfere with new episodes of The Simpsons, King of the Hill, American Dad, and a rerun of Family Guy, plus a later showing of Legend of the Seeker.

Everything was thrown off about 30 minutes. As a matter of fact, Family Guy didn't even come on because Fox was trying to get back on schedule because the damn left turn league couldn't stop having accidents or whatsoever. I turned the TV on about 6 or so and every time I would flip over they would be under caution. I was like WTF?!? If not for all that, the damn race more than likely would have been over a good 30 minutes earlier (at least).

NFL games do go over occasionally, and I could sit here and say that I don't mind them, but I do (unless it's a game I'm watching...lol). It would be hypocritical of me to say that, but there comes a point when you have to remember that there are people that tune in at said time to watch their Sunday evening programming. So, when we flip over and see a damn NASCAR race in its stead, it's really frustrating, especially when nothing else worth watching is on and they have like 100 laps to go and are under a caution flag.

Oh, and then when the race was over, they had to wait to get the "official" winner. In the meantime, they were talking to every driver they could track down. It was just as bad as watching horse racing. Where they come on 2 hrs before the race and just talk about useless stuff until the 2 min race. I will never get the point of that.

So, as you can tell, I am not a fan of NASCAR and am very perturbed about the delay of my shows last night. Unfortunately, I know this won't be the last time. Especially since the season seems to go on forever. I swear, golf, baseball, NASCAR, and tennis seasons seem to go on forever and day!

In case you were wondering what the left turn league is, its NASCAR. I heard someone on ESPN call them that the other day and decided to use it myself.

Eye Candy 3/1

Female Hottie: Jennifer Garner

I like to call our first hottie one of the most approachable women in Hollywood. The vibe one gets from Jennifer Garner is that she's very approachable. As a matter of fact, from pictures I've seen of her in high school (before she became the ultra hottie she is today), I would wager she would have been someone I would've asked out. Ben Affleck is a lucky man to come home to this every night.

Male Hottie: Colin Farell

I've seen this guy a little too much this week. First I saw him in the movie Daredevil, then he showed up in a rerun of Scrubs, and then I saw him in a trailer for some new movie he's gonna be in soon. For some reason, everyone goes crazy for this guy. Not sure what it is. Someone please tell me! In the meantime, enjoy ladies!

Random Hottie from a movie or TV show seen this week: Anneliese van der Pol

I'm willing to bet you don't have a clue as to who Anneliese is. Well, she is known for the role that earned her this spot, Chelsea on That's So Raven. I recently found out that she played Belle in Broadway's Beauty & the Beast. I have a thing for redheads, so I'm wishing she gets more on-screen roles in the future. Until then, there's always reruns.

MILF: Kate Hudson

Kate is Hollywood royalty. The daughter of Goldie Hawn and raised by Kurt Russell, will give you that kind of pedigree. She is currently the reigning romantic comedy queen and has one son. Currently she is rumored to be dating Owen Wilson (again).

Classic/Retro Hottie: Faye Dunaway

Faye is probably best know for her roles in Bonnie & Clyde and Mommie Dearest, but this acclaimed actress has a resume a mile long. Time has not faded her beauty, but the younger generation seems to think they can out act her. Recently, that top thespian Hilary Duff (note the sarcasm), attacked Miss Dunaway saying "...I might be mad if I looked like that now, too." Of course there was a war of words before that. Irregardless, Faye is one of the classic beauties of Hollywood and a living legend!
