Cooler temps make things go sooo much smoother

For those of us that live in the South, we are more than aware of the extreme temps we endure year after year. Now, for those of us that are/were involved in extracurricular activities that involve outside practices for long hours(band, cheerleading, football, etc), this causes utter misery.

Well, this week, the cooler temps have hit. What does this mean? Well, since band camp practice has been miserably hot, and causes the students to not have as much fun out there as they could, not to mention the misery we directors endure with the sun beating down on us up there on that tower.

I can't tell you how much smoother practice has gone this week, and just in time as contest is 2 weeks away. Unfortunately, we only get 1 performance between now and then, which sucks, but that's what happens when everyone wants to play you or homecoming...lol

Well, I'm going to wrap this up and go for a nice little stroll around the neighborhood to enjoy the coolness. Hope you all had a good day!

Musical Monday

Happy Musical Monday, everyone! For many high school bands around the country, this weekend marked the beginning of contests season (our first one isn't until Oct. 16, though). With that in mind, I figured this would be a good choice for this week's selection (and Lin requested it a few weeks back...lol) Please enjoy OK Go's "This Too Shall Pass"

Please, please, PLEASE help!

It's been a while since I've put in a shameless plug, but this one involves my alma mater. I'm sure you've heard of the show Hawaii 5-0. Well, they did a remake that comes on CBS on Monday nights.

To coincide with the remake, they are giving away $25,000 to a deserving collegiate marching band, so voted on by the public. This is why I'm asking you all to go vote for Northwestern St. University.

I don't need to tell you that this money can go a long way. It takes a lot to run a band program these days, especially at the collegiate level.

Please, please, please, vote for NSU!

Laptop keyboard

So, I', breaking in the new keyboard this week. Other than just getting used to the different feel of it and having this roll away keyboard attached to my laptop.

In case you forgot, the little woman spilled her drink on the laptop a couple weeks ago and shorted out the keyboard. Well, thank goodness it didn't cause any major damage, as far as I can tell.

However, the laptop isn't without issues. Every once in awhile the start menu will randomly pop up and pressing certain keys will cause thing to happen. For instance, pressing the space bar will cause the weather icon to come to the forefront, pressing d will cause the desktop to appear, etc.

This is the only issue, though. While it is a nuisance, I guess we should be grateful that the laptop even works at all. It could have been much, much, worse!

Eye Candy update

I know more than a few of you have been wondering about my eye candy posts and when they will return. Well, as I'll explain in a future post, I'm still getting used to the new keyboard and how it affects my laptop.

Anyway, barring some kind of setback, they will return Oct. 3 (that's next Sunday, btw). Requests are still welcome.
