So, at the end of the day today, the first week of school will be in the books (with way too many left to go!) That in itself isn't the real accomplishment, as much as the fact that it would appear that in this school district, there are 7...count 'em 7...teachers that aren't coaches or former coaches. Of those 7, I believe that 2 have some kind of relation to the powers that be, or they're just older than God, so they're not going anywhere.
This is a small town and a small school district, but the fact that coaches seem to run everything around here...and get more and more powerful and numerous by the year, is quite disturbing. Wouldn't you agree?
Just yesterday, the choir teacher quit. I don't know what her reasons were, but I know that she had some trouble with a couple of the coaches at the other school and was looking for a job elsewhere. Maybe she got it, or maybe she just got fed up with the b.s. around here.
I don't know if I mentioned this before, but the coaches don't even get along with each other. The high school powerlifting team is 3 time state champs. The football team loses in the playoffs, albeit further then they've ever gone, and you'd think they'd have gone undefeated and won the state championship.
The poor powerlifters, though, got a small cake and streamers in the teachers lounge. No big celebration or anything. You'd think they were us band people! Geesh!
Is it any wonder that bossman and I are probably leaving after this year?
Anyway, I suppose I should wrap this up and head to work. Thanks for listening/reading!
