Vidoe games in P.E.?

So, band camp started this week. Think in the past 3 days, I've sweated off a good 5-10 lbs just being outside. I can only imagine how much it is for the students...lol

Anyway, we went inside to the gym for a cool down session yesterday (believe it or not, that is the coolest place in the school), and I noticed on the wall the curriculum for P.E.

They had on there the usual...volleyball, flag football, health/cpr, basketball, soccer, aerobics/gymnastics, board/video games.

Yes,m you read that right, they apparently are teaching video games in high school P.E. now!

I'm assuming this is stuff like Wii Fit, Dance Dane Revolution, and the other stuff that is fitness oriented, but knowing this school, it wouldn't surprise me if it as God of War, Grand Theft Auto,Mario Brothers, etc.

Musical Monday

One of my favorite musicals is West Side Story, so I thought for this week's musical Monday, I'd let you listen to the beautiful ballad "Maria"

Eye Candy 7/25

Before I begin, I want to welcome you to the 100th edition of Eve Candy!

Female Hottie: Meghan McCain

While I may not agree with her or her dad's politics, I can't deny the hotness of this week's fist hottie, Meghan McCain. For those of you that don't know, Meghan is the daughter of U.S. senator and former presidential candidate John McCain. She also is a published author and writes her own blog and column, as well as occasionally filling in as a co-host on The View.

Male Hottie: Alexander Skarsgård
This week's male hottie is best known as the devious vampire Sheriff Eric Northman on the show, True Blood. This Swedish actor has also appeared in a couple of things here in the states such as the movie Zoolander and the video for Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi".

Random Hottie from a movie or TV show seen this week: Margarita Levieva

This week's random hottie comes to us from the movie Adventureland. Aside from that, she has mostly been in guest spots on shows such as Law & Order: Trial By Jury, Kings, Vanished, and will appear in the forthcoming HBO comedy How to Make it in America. Let's keep an eye out for her, shall we?

MILF: Michelle Obama

In an effort to maintain some political balance here, this week's MILF is on the opposite side of the political spectrum than our Female Hottie. First Lady Michelle Obama manages to be married to the leader of the free world, raise two girls, be a fashion icon and role model, and apparently work out like mad...look at those arms! While I don't always agree with her husband's politics, similar with Meghan, I can't deny her hotness.

Classic/Retro Hottie: Helen Mirren

One of the greatest actresses of our time is our classic/retro hottie. Dame Helen Mirren is mostly know for portraying royalty these days, most notably Queen Elizabeth in The Queen, for which she won an Oscar. What's more impressive, though, is that this 65 year old beauty still has her beauty and quite the impressive body (go look for that infamous bikini picture). In her career, she appeared in movies such as A Midsummer's Night Dream, 2010: The Year We Made Contact, Teaching Mrs. Tingle, Calendar Girls, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, and voiced Deep Thought in the film version of The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I look forward to seeing more of this uber talented actress.

What happened?

Since when did netspeak become the acceptable way to communicate with people? "U" is a letter in the alphabet..."you" refers to a person! "Ur" does not exist. Try "you're" or "your" or even "you are" if you forget what possessive means. "L8r" ? ? WTF?!? Don't tell me we have gotten so lazy that we cannot bring ourselves to form whole words anymore!last Sunday

Talk about a Bridezilla

So, it appears as if Chelsea Clinton is getting married in the next few days. This should be a happy occasion, right? Well, some chick that is getting married the same day doesn't think so.

I don't know all the details, but from what I've heard, she is not happy that Chelsea's wedding in getting in the way of hers and taking the attention off of her.

Now, I know that weddings are a big deal and that brides want it to be the most perfect of all days and all that jazz, but isn't this a bit extreme?

I mean, so what if Chelsea is getting married the same day. So are a billion couples. It isn't just her day.

I'm just waiting for this chick to sue someone for ruining her day. Given the way folks throw around frivolous lawsuits these days, we all know its bound to happen!

Jealous much?

As I've mentioned here before, we have a new computer. I'm not complaining one bit about that. Something we seriously needed.

However, the little woman's best friend (and ex-lover) bought her an ipod, as well.

Now, the computer was not that big of a deal. She works for Dell and gets some kind of crazy discount. Still with the price of that combined with an ipod (and shipping/handling for both), I believe she's spent nearly $1,000!

One one hand, I'm jealous. I mean, my best friend probably would do the same if she was able, but considering how she hasn't worked in 7 yrs while she's been a housewife and mother, I don't think she's able. Plus she's getting ready to go back to school this fall.

On the other hand, the little woman's friend is one of those that could literally live in places like Best Buy, Comp USA, Radio Shack, etc. She loves shopping for electronics, no matter the cost (must be nice).

lol We thought about dropping the hint to her about a new TV. hmmm...

Well, I just needed to get that off my mind. Thanks for listening/reading.

Eye Candy 7/18

Female Hottie: Meagan Good

Our first hottie for the week may best be known for her short stint on My Wife and Kids, but Megan has also made other appearances on not only the small screen, but big screen. She can be seen in Friday, Deliver Us from Eva, The Unborn, One Missed Call, Touched By an Angel, All of Us, The Love Guru, and a few others. She has a few projects in production, so we'll be seeing more of her soon enough.

Male Hottie: Jonathan Rhys Meyers

Currently, Jonathan Rhys Meyers can be seen in the Showtime drama The Tudors. He has also been in films such as Bend It Like Beckham, Prozac Nation, Mission: Impossible III, August Rush, and most recently From Paris With Love. Ladies love this Irishman for some reason. Don't ask me why.

Random Hottie from a movie or TV show seen this week: Lisa Ann Walter

I first saw our this week's random hottie in her short lived ABC sitcom, Life's Work. She gets this spot because of her appearance in Drillbit Taylor. Since the end of her sitcom, Lisa Ann has been doing the stand-up comic thing, as well as an occasional appearance on the big screen in films such as War of the Worlds, Bruce Almighty, The Parent Trap as well as developed the show Dance Your Ass Off.

MILF: Leslie Mann

Our MILF for this week is Leslie Mann. If you don't know her, chances are you haven't seen a Judd Apatow (her husband) movie. Aside from raising her 2 girls, Leslie is constantly appearing in films. She can next be seen in the comedy I Love You Phillip Morris. Her other works include George of the Jungle, The Cable Guy, Knocked Up, Funny People, 17 Again, The 40-year Old Virgin, just to name a few.

Classic/Retro Hottie: Nichelle Nichols

Our retro hottie is best known to Star Trek fans as Uhura. Most of her career has been linked to playing Uhura, she has branched out from the character once in awhile, appearing in Truck Turner, Snow Dogs, Are we There Yet?, lending her voice to Gargoyles, Batman: The Animated Series, and making television appearance on Heroes. I'm sure to many, though, she will always be Uhura.

3D TV?

I had heard rumors and rumbling about 3D TV, but never thought I'd live to see the day it would come to reality...until tonight.

The little woman and I went to Best buy to get an idea of what kind of new TV we want and there was this abomination...a 3D TV.

I'm no fan of 3D. I think it is nothing more than a way for studios to sap more money out of moviegoers, since they're not getting enough from those excessively expensive tickets.

Television is going the same way, what with all the HDTV and whatnot. They even made that law a while back that all sets had to be HDTV compatible or something. In other words, if you had one of those ancient sets from the 50s, it was time for you to upgrade.

My initial thought on this 3D TV is, why would anyone want to wear glasses to sit and watch something in their living room (excluding those of us that already wear glasses, of course). It makes no sense! Ugh!

I just don't get it. Maybe I should just get to inventing a time machine and go back to the 80s, 60s, 40s, or 50s...before any of this stuff was even though of and times were much simpler. Anyone care to join me?

No A/C?

So, I woke up this morning and heard that some environmental folks are trying to get air conditioning banned. Yes, you read that right, they want to band A/C!

Why, you may ask? Well, they seem to think they are environmental hazards. I'm not going to sit here and deny or confirm that they are, but there is something a little more important.

This summer may go on record as one of the hottest in recent memory, or at least compared to the past few. With temperatures soaring, a few fans, some ice, and an open window just won't do the trick.

Let us not forget the elderly, either. I remember my grandmother didn't get an A/C until she became an invalid, then she couldn't live without it. Before then, though, that house was unbearable, but somehow she and my grandfather were able to take it, or at least they were used to it, but that's neither here or there. When they became sickly, it was imperative they kept cool.

I understand wanting to save the planet and all that jazz, but there are just some things that should be left alone and air conditioning is one such thing. Growing up and spending all but 2 years in the south, I am more than aware of the benefits of A/C.

It is downright sticky, humid, and hot down here. Banning A/C down here would just result in folks sneaking ti like they did moonshine back in the day.

I just think this whole notion is just someone trying to raise a fuss, or get their name in the paper or something, but it does make you think. 50 years ago if someone would have mentioned this, it wouldn't have been an issue, yet today we'd literally die without it. What happened?

That aside, I don't care if they ban A/C (99.999% chance it won't happen), mine ain't going nowhere!!!!!

Eye Candy 7/11

Female Hottie: Brittany Snow

This week's female hottie is best known for her roles in Hairspray and John Tucker Must Die. Aside from those roles, Brittany has appeared in other projects on the big and small screen, such as Prom Night, The Pacifier, Nip/Tuck, American Dreams, Guiding Light, and even lent her voice to the Kingdom Hearts II video game. She has a few projects in post production, so we're sure to be seeing more of her soon enough.

Male Hottie: Ashton Kutcher

It seems like just yesterday Ashton Kutcher was the shaggy haired stoner on The 70s Show that all the women were in love with. Today, he's the shaggy headed actor that all the women are in love with who just happens to be married to Demi Moore. Kutcher has been developing quite the resume, with appearances in movies like Dude, Where's My Car?, Just Married, The Butterfly Effect, Valentine's Day, and more recently The Killers. On top of that, he also produces a few shows, most notably MTV's Punk'd.

Random Hottie from a movie or TV show seen this week: Lynn Collins

This week's random hottie comes to us from X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Lynn Collins' career was supposed to take off after that movie, but actually seems to have cooled down. She does have a new movie coming out in 2010, John Cater of Mars, so maybe she'll be back in public view by then. Previously, she has appeared in True Blood, 13 Going on 30, Down With Love, The Merchant of Venice, Law & Order: SVU, Supernatural, and a few other works.

MILF: Megyn Price

This week's MILF first caught my attention on Grounded for Life. These days, Megyn is an occasional guest at the round table on Chelsea Lately and stars on Rules of Engagement. This striking mother of 1 is sure to be around for a while.

Classic/Retro Hottie: Lana Turner

This week's classic hottie may actually best be known for her innocent look. I believe the term they used for many of her early roles was ingenue. In a total 180, she morphed into a femme fatale later in her career. Some of her resume include roles in Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, Somewhere I'll Find You, They Won't Forget, The Three Musketeers, Peyton Place, The Postman Rings Twice, Madame X, Bachelor in Paradise, just to name a few. Like many women of this era, Lana married often, 7 times. She was quoted as saying "My goal was to have one husband and seven children, but it turned out to be the other way around."

The return

I'm sure my faithful readers and followers have noticed that I haven't been posting on a regular basis, save for my annual posts (eye candy, musical Monday, quote of the week, and retro commercial Friday).

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was breaking in a new computer. I'm still breaking it in, but everything is all setup and working.

So, this is a little note to say that things will be back to "normal" around here starting Monday. This also coincides with my return to return to work. (Gotta love staff meetings)

In other words, I have officially decided to pursue my Master's Degree, and will be looking at grad schools during the year. Hopefully this time next year I'll have been accepted.

Don't ask me where it'll be just yet. Obviously, my alma mater (Northwestern St.) is on the list, but the others are still a mystery. We'll see what happens.

Thanks for reading!

Eye Candy 7/4

Female Hottie: Emily Blunt

Our first hottie comes to us from across the pond. Emily Blunt first gained notoriety here in the states for her role opposite Anne Hathaway in The Devil Wears Prada and for dating crooner Michael Buble. She has gone on to star in a number of hit films including The Young Victoria, The Wolfman, Charlie Wilson's War, and made a guest appearance in an episode of The Simpsons. Emily's career is on fire right now, so you can be sure that we'll see more and more of her in the future.

Male Hottie: Gavin Rossdale

This week's male hottie is the lead singer of the British rock group Bush. He is also married to Gwen Stefani. Aside from his musical endeavors, Rossdale acts on the side. You may have seen him in Constantine, Zoolander, Little Black Book, or How to Rob a Bank. For some reason ladies love this guy, so here you go.

Random Hottie from a movie or TV show seen this week: Rutina Wesley

This week's random hottie comes from True Blood. Rutina Wesley's young career, aside from that show consists of a voice spot on The Cleveland Show, and appearance on Numb3rs, and her debut on the big screen in How She Move. The sky is the limit for this hottie. Not that I don't love her in Bon Temps, bur hopefully we can see her in other roles.

MILF: Sigourney Weaver

This week's MILF is like a fine wine. She has only gotten better with age. THe mother of one has been a steady force on the big screen since the late 70s with roles in the Alien and Ghostbusters franchises as well as her recent appearance in the mega-hit Avatar. She has also starred in cult favorites Galaxy Quest and Heartbreakers. On top of all this she has even lent her voice to animated fare such as Wall-E, Happily N'Ever After, and The Tale of Despereaux. I don't think she'll be slowing down anytime soon.

Classic/Retro Hottie: Colleen Camp

Our classic hottie may best be known for her role in the first two Police Academy movies. Since then Colleen went on to roles in a number of films, most recently Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant. This former Playboy pinup is now not only an actress, but a producer as well.

Fruit Roll-Ups

I don't know about you, but when I was growing up, I loved fruit roll-ups. On days when I took my lunch to school, my mom would pack one in there. If she didn't, then when I'd come home, it'd be my snack while I was watching cartoons (remember when those used to come on in the afternoons?).

I just heard that the company that makes this delicious product is being sued because, apparently they're unhealthy. WTF?!?

Do people just sue for anything nowadays? Yes, they're unhealthy, but so what. If anyone thinks they're anything otherwise, then they seriously need help!

So, this is going to go down as a another frivolous lawsuit, just because someone feels they can make a quick buck by ruining someone/thing else. Ugh!

Sometimes this society we live in makes me sick!
