Heat

Saturday, the band had their 2nd marching contest. This is one we had to schedule at the last minute because the one we originally had scheduled was cancelled.

Of course, the temperature dropped and just threw everything out of whack. Kids didn't do as well as they could have, but still managed to place, which was good. One more to go, and its back up at my college!

For those of you that don't live in the south and/or warmer temperatures, the fact that in the stands everyone was bundled up like a blizzard was coming through is sure to seem comical to you. I wish I had thought to take a picture and show you. Thinking about it now, it is kinda funny.

I was thinking about this the other day. Contests up north tend to have to deal with this temps (I believe it got down to the mid to low 40s) or lower, but for us not so much.

A few of our more, shall we say rustic? parents brought an ingenious device to keep them warm, besides an entire collection of blankets, they had propane heaters under their legs.

I've never seen these things, but if I ever move to someplace like say, Colorado, I'll be sure to invest in one. While the rest of us looked like cartoon characters that had been placed in the freezer, those parents were all nice and toasty.

Anyway, thanks for reading!

Smart people! We pack ourselves with hand-warmers too--they help a TON!
