Does it really matter?

Remember a few months back when Tiger Woods had that accident and somehow it snowballed into this whole media spectacle and women started coming out of the woodwork saying they had some kind of affair with him? Well, apparently, he's set to have a press conference tomorrow morning and apologize as well as tell the world about his plans.

Two things about this...first, does it really matter? I mean, did he do any damage to any of us? No. If he did, its nothing more than damage to what we all though of him, but actually, as bad as this sounds, it makes him seem human. The fact that this is such a big deal, though, is ridiculous. There really is no need for him to even have this press conference. The only person he needs to apologize to is his wife.

The second this is we better all get ready for another long stretch of the media analyzing and scrutinizing every single aspect of this press conference and any and everything about it. You know what I mean, they'll say something like he blinked twice that means he wasn't sorry, or he had corn flakes for breakfast that means he made it all up, etc. This is all going to be dragged out until some other controversy like Brad Pitt leaving Angelina Jolie for Tom Cruise comes along.

Basically, I'm saying that this whole thing is way over covered, but at least its kept us from being forced to hear coverage of Heidi and Spencer or Jon and Kate, or some other media whores...except the Jersey Shore orange people, who actually stopped folks from talking about him in the first place, maybe, and I can't believe I'm saying this, they can do it again?

How can they be offended?

Poor Tiger. Seems like the guy can't get a break. He finally gets some good news today when he was named the AP golfer of the decade or something like that. I don't know the exact title.

Thing is, there is a group of people outraged by this, saying that he isn't deserving of it. First of all, the award is for what he did on the golf course for the past 10 years, and you can't deny that Woods has been anything but dominant out there on the green. As a matter of fact, if he wasn't, these media yahoos wouldn't have anything to talk about for the past couple of weeks. It's kinda like the O.J. situation, regardless of whether he did or didn't murder his wife, you can't deny what he did on the field. Same goes for Michael Vick before he went to prison, or anyone else that has had issues off the field.

Second, how can anyone be offended by this. Someone on the radio said it best, there must be this group of people that just sit around getting offended at things, like "Oooh! Obama has two daughters. I'm offended he doesn't have any sons" or "That Christmas tree doesn't have enough decorations on it". You know stupid stuff like that. This is what this seems like to me. More of that witch hunt mentality.

What are your thoughts?

They keep piling it on

*SIGH* Another day, another Tiger Woods story. As bad as this sounds, his mother-in-law's medical problems this morning, may have been good news. What I mean by that is that at least she's not one of his mistresses...lol

Seriously, though, I'll be glad when this is all over and Tiger's life can go back to normal, and that he doesn't end up ostracized they way just about every other celeb/athlete that does looks at someone wrong is these days.

In the meantime, we're forced to oversaturation of this story. Hope you're all enjoying it.

Anyone remember that Michael Jackson died this year? lol

A sad span of time in the sports world

Every now and then, there comes a span of time where everything seems to go wrong in the sports world in terms of bad publicity. We've had one of those spans.

First, there was legendary Florida State University football coach Bobby Bowden retirement. Nothing wrong with that, except that it seems as if he was forced out. Yeah, I said it! The man was forced out because they school thinks they're entitled to win, rather than giving the man the respect he deserves and let him go out on his own terms, when he is truly ready. Yeah, sure he chose to retire, but this was after a meeting with the powers that be, where they told him that he could come back with less power.

Having said that, I should also mention that the coach in waiting, Jimbo Fisher, who is a good friend of Bowden and his wife, has to be put in a tough position with all this. They push Bowden out, and the pressure is on him. Yeah, he's supposed to be ready for this, and all, but I can't help but feel sorry for both men...Bowden for the way he was treated on his way out and Fisher for the ridiculous amount of pressure that will be on him.

The next thing, just broke this morning. Apparently, Tiger Woods did have a madam. He gave this big long spiel this morning saying how he was sorry for his transgression, a disappointment to his friends and fans...blah, blah, blah. The usual stuff we've heard from politicians and other sports stars in similar situations. The thing is that, and I hate to make this comparison, but like no one thought O. J. could have killed his wife (allegedly), it is inconceivable that an upstanding man such as Tiger would do such a thing, but I suppose each man has a weakness, and the women he was with aren't too shabby. Not condoning what he did, just saying.

One thing that Tiger said in his statement that needs to be said more often is that his private life should be his private life. As I said in a blog before, this story should not have been covered like 9/11 or if the man died. The amount of coverage it received has been ridiculous, especially since this happened on his own property. Personally, I could care less what he does in his personal life, and I'm sure there are more than a few people in the world that agree with me, but for some reason the media seems to think this was worthy of oversaturation. When will they learn to leave people alone? They've already killed Princess Di. Is it going to take another death to get them to back off?

*AHEM* sorry about that. Also in the sports world atrocity category, is the fact the the overrated New Orleans Saints are undefeated. I can't tell you how tired I am of hearing about these guys. As bad as you think you have it, unless you live in Louisiana, like I do, you don't have it as bad as I do.

What makes it worse is that since Katrina, people seem to think that the Saints and the city of New Orleans are entitled to a championship because the city was nearly destroyed. Look, I'm all for a fee good story and all, but these people need to get real. They need to earn it just like teams from Dallas, Miami, Denver, Tampa, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, etc. That's just how I see it.

So, what do you guys think?
