Are they that hard up for money?

I just finished reading this article that said the Beach Boys' lawyers...note the lawyers and not the band themselves...want to sue Katy Perry because of one little line that Snoop Dogg utters at the end of his rap as an homage to the song, "California Girls".

My issue with this is, first off, the Beach Boys don't have a problem with it, so why should the lawyers? Can we say frivolous lawsuit?

Second, the songs have nothing in common, but if you want to get picky, country singer Gretchen Wilson did a "California Girls" song of her own a year or two ago and there was no stink about it.

My guess is that since Katy Perry is one of the hottest acts around right now, the lawyers want to capitalize on the moment and perhaps spin it into some publicity.

Whatever the reason, this is ridiculous and further proof we don't need lawyers!
