Seriously?!?

I'm not one to talk politics. There are about a gazillion other blogs out there for that purpose. However, I was reading on some of team's message boards how that Obama is behind their losses. WTF?!?

OK...First off, I'm of the belief that if you don't like the president, then get off your butt, run for office, and see if you can do better. There is no reason to sit around bashing the man. Those that didn't vote didn't make their voice heard then, so why should people care now?

Second, how in tarnation can the president affect a team? Is he out there running the plays? Is he out there practicing (or not practicing) every day? Is he calling the plays? The answer to all these is no, so there is no way in hell he can cost a team anything. Not to mention that he is more than stressed out enough without having to worry about football strategy.

It amazes me the stupidity and utter hatred of some people out there. It just makes me sick!!!

This is a political issue?

Earlier this week, it was announced that President Obama would be speaking to students K-12 across the country. Of course, this has to be turned into an issue, because everything a Democratic president does is meant to further their agenda, right? not so fast!

The main purpose of this speech is to speak about the importance of education, something that affects all parties, races, creeds, colors, etc. I don't understand the outrage. If he were going on there to talk about his health care plan, economic policies, the war, etc., it would make sense for Conservatives to be up in arms, but he wants to speak about educational importance.

Hell, if someone would have taken the time to tell me how important an education was, i may have ended up higher than #6 in my high school class and it wouldn't have taken 6 yrs to graduate college (not counting the major switch and classes being offered at odd intervals).

Maybe its just me, though, but I don't think there is any reason for people to be pulling their kids from school that day, threatening to have teacher and administrators fired if they show the speech, etc., over this.

Then again, they are claiming he's going to "brainwash" their children. I could go into a whole different rant on that, but I won't, as it's just a classic example of how closed minded some people are.

Jeans

Over the years, jeans have gone through a variety of styles. In the old west, they were worn so tight they might as well have been spandex. In the 70s, they became bell bottoms. The late 90s brought us the baggy trend. All of these styles are worn in some shape, form, or fashion still today. I myself prefer the loose look.

Last week, President Obama threw out the first pitch at baseball's All-Star game. I'm no fan of baseball(ironically, I played in high school), but I did tune in to watch said pitch. Now all of a sudden, people are complaining about his jeans. HIS JEANS!!!

Good grief, have we become that much of a criticizing society that a man can't even wear a pair of comfortable jeans without facing criticism? I realize he's the President and all, but he is human. I mean, good grief, was he supposed to go out there in his usual business suit? I think not.

He says it best when defending his jeans, "They're comfortable."

Of course knowing the way some people think, that simple statement will get turned into something un-American or anti-Conservative. It's ridiculous how far we've fallen in this day and age.

We know live in a world where a man can't wear a pair of comfortable jeans in peace!

No more June?

OK, I know that some people don't care for President Obama, and that we are in a financial crisis and whatnot, but yesterday as I was standing in line at Wal Mart, I glanced over at one of the tabloids. Usually I pay them no mind. most of the time they all say the same thing about this person is fat (even though they're not), this person is too skinny, this couple is breaking up, Oprah is going to take over the world, etc, etc. However, one of the covers had something about Obama getting rid of the month of June as a way to save billions.

How ridiculous can you get? In the first place, he can't get rid of June. That would have to be a world decision, and quite honestly, I just don't see it actually saving money by getting rid of a month. I didn't read the article, so maybe they had some "facts" in there, but I doubt it was anything more than just a way to catch people's eye and waste ink.

Of course, if this was to actually happen, a couple of very important women (the little woman and my mom) in my life would be none too happy...or maybe they would since they would never get any older...lol

Hate and assasination

In my relatively short amount of time on this Earth, I have witnessed varying acts of dislike, distaste, and distrust. Hate has happened, but it's never been malicious, unforgivable hatred. Now, I have stated before, and will say it again, this is not a political blog, and I plan to keep it that way. There are plenty of those out there already. However, I can't sit by and let this pass without some type of acknowledgement.

This election has definitely brought about some of the underlying issues we have in this country that have never been addressed before now. One must wonder, if Hillary would have been running instead of Obama, if issues pertaining to gender would have arisen.

The candidates both promised to run a clean campaign when they unofficially won their nominations this summer. However, since then that has not been the case. As a matter of fact, McCain has run almost all negative ads since then. CNN had a chart up yesterday and it was like 61% negative ads to Obamas 41% (don't quote me on those numbers).

I understand that you want to make your opponent seem unfit to win this election and whatnot, but some of the tactics McCain has been using have caused what can only be described as a scary turn in people.

Don't believe me? Read this article by Frank Schaeffer (a Republican, btw):

John McCain: If your campaign does not stop equating Sen. Barack Obama with terrorism, questioning his patriotism and portraying Mr. Obama as "not one of us," I accuse you of deliberately feeding the most unhinged elements of our society the red meat of hate, and therefore of potentially instigating violence.

At a Sarah Palin rally, someone called out, "Kill him!" At one of your rallies, someone called out, "Terrorist!" Neither was answered or denounced by you or your running mate, as the crowd laughed and cheered. At your campaign event Wednesday in Bethlehem, Pa., the crowd was seething with hatred for the Democratic nominee - an attitude encouraged in speeches there by you, your running mate, your wife and the local Republican chairman.

Shame!

John McCain: In 2000, as a lifelong Republican, I worked to get you elected instead of George W. Bush. In return, you wrote an endorsement of one of my books about military service. You seemed to be a man who put principle ahead of mere political gain.

You have changed. You have a choice: Go down in history as a decent senator and an honorable military man with many successes, or go down in history as the latest abettor of right-wing extremist hate.

John McCain, you are no fool, and you understand the depths of hatred that surround the issue of race in this country. You also know that, post-9/11, to call someone a friend of a terrorist is a very serious matter. You also know we are a bitterly divided country on many other issues. You know that, sadly, in America, violence is always just a moment away. You know that there are plenty of crazy people out there.

Stop! Think! Your rallies are beginning to look, sound, feel and smell like lynch mobs.

John McCain, you're walking a perilous line. If you do not stand up for all that is good in America and declare that Senator Obama is a patriot, fit for office, and denounce your hate-filled supporters when they scream out "Terrorist" or "Kill him," history will hold you responsible for all that follows.

John McCain and Sarah Palin, you are playing with fire, and you know it. You are unleashing the monster of American hatred and prejudice, to the peril of all of us. You are doing this in wartime. You are doing this as our economy collapses. You are doing this in a country with a history of assassinations.

Change the atmosphere of your campaign. Talk about the issues at hand. Make your case. But stop stirring up the lunatic fringe of haters, or risk suffering the judgment of history and the loathing of the American people - forever.

We will hold you responsible.

I'm not writing this to tell you to vote for Obama, or to denounce McCain. My sole purpose is to get my feelings about how his negative campaign has brought out the worst in people.

On top of all this, a friend of mine brought about an interesting point. Martin Luther King, Abraham Lincoln, John F. and Robert Kennedy all were involved with getting all people civil rights. Now, Obama isn't exactly a civil rights activist or anything, but he is a black man, and we know that there is someone out there plotting to assassinate him, especially if he wins.

Scary part about what my friend said is that he may be right. Shh...don't tell him I said that, though. Hopefully though, that won't happen.

Well, thanks to all of you that have read this. Sometimes, even I have to make a political statement.
