Big is beautiful

The first month of the new year is almost over, and for the past 26 days it seems like I've heard nothing but weight loss stories, or some kind of weight criticism.

Now, I'm not going to criticize anyone for losing weight, for the right reasons, but to do it just to be a "skinny bitch" seems to be...well, it's just flat out wrong!

I've mentioned on this blog before that it seems as if certain aspects of the media want men (or women) to want these waif thin women. For me, personally, I'm one to embrace curves.

The little women is quite well endowed in the front and back and not ashamed of them. For some reason, the media seems to be hell bent on tearing down and ruining our favorite "big" actresses/singers. The list of casualties include Scarlett Johnasson, Toccarra Jones, Jennifer Hudson, Raven Symone, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Carrie Underwood, Sara Rue, Jennifer Connelly, Jennifer Love-Hewitt, Beyonce, Tyra Banks, and the list goes on and on.

Ugh...I get so frustrated when I think about things like this. To make matter worse, the producers of some show in Las Vegas, think that that former Playboy playmate and uber hottie Holly Madison...here she is

Now, tell me, does she look anywhere close to fat? Granted, this picture is touched up and photoshopped a bit, but not that much.

I'll go even further. It is no secret that the women in WWE tend to be the model type, and the ones that aren't end up being the kind that just throw their, pardon the pun, weight around. Well, apparently, they did a storyline awhile back criticizing the weight of one of their "divas". Shortly thereafter, she was released and is now a star in a rival promotion.

You would think they'd have learned from that experience, right? Wrong! Look at WWE diva Natalya

This is an untouched picture. As you can see, she's a bit on the thicker side...probably more muscle than actual fat, but one of the announcers called her "hefty" on the air Monday, from what I hear. Whether this is a storyline or what remains to be seen, but what do you think? I happen to know more than a few women who would love to be her size!

I love this quote she gave the next day "...this diva is built in the front, stacked in the back and proud of every inch!!!"

Forgetting the fact that she's a wrestler, that is a really good quote. I may use it as the quote of the week...lol

I still have to ask you, what is has our society disintegrated into that these two are "fat"?

Here are a few musical tributes to the bigger girls. At least these guys aren't obsessed with the "skinny bitches"

I may be one of the few in the world that has this view, but I'm going to end this post by saying that women are beautiful, no matter what size they are...though I prefer curves ;)

If this isn't inspiration, I don't know what is

I know that many of my readers, myself included, are on a diet, workout, and/or weight loss plan. Some have been getting results, while others are just getting frustrated at not seeing the desired results fast enough....a byproduct of today's instant gratification society. No one wants to put in the work anymore...but that's a whole different blog.

Not to mention, we always see these celebs that are pregnant and/or fat one day and seem to snap back into shape like a rubber band in less than a month. That can be inspirational and all, but what about a real person that shows real results?

This is my friend Jennifer this time last year . As you can see, she's a bigger girl. Well, after Xmas she went on a diet and started running 2-4 miles everyday. I'm sure she worked up to it.

So, a year later, here she is 65 lbs lighter .

Now if that doesn't inspire you, I don't know what will. I'm so proud of her!

...she's at Oskaloosa beach in Florida for those of you that are curious where these pics were taken.

Resolution revolution

Well, it's the new year. Hopefully you've all recovered from your various holiday festivities. I'm not one for making New Year's resolutions, but this year I've decided I need to make a few.

The first is to make an attempt to be such a habitual channel flipper. Yes, I'm one of those. As soon as the commercials start, I'm flipping through like a madman.

The second is to make a trip to see my parents. Haven't been in 3 yrs this April. Think it's about time to go back, especially since they decided to actually send me a birthday and Xmas card this year.

The final and possibly biggest one is the one almost everyone makes, and that is to lose weight. Now, I'm not the biggest guy in the world, but I'm not the same size I was before I moved down here. Part of that has to do with the little woman being a great cook.

Speaking of the little woman, she's lost 20 lbs on her diet, so I figured might as well jump on the band wagon. I could also throw in that the sex has been better since she dropped the lbs, too...lol

Went through my closet today, and found some clothes that I haven't worn in quite awhile. Most of them still fit, some more snug than others. Good thing is, though, the last time I tried some of them on, I could barely squeeze into them, so I guess I've already been on some sort of weight loss thingy, just didn't know it. Who knows what will happen if I actually tried to drop the lbs.

However, I'm more interested in dropping inches than I am lbs. I know, I'm weird like that. Guess I need to go buy a scale, since the one we had shorted out when some water splashed out of the tub.

My goal for doing this is more about health. I'm getting on up there in age, so I need to start thinking about my weight and such.

So, what are your resolutions, if you have any? Any weight loss tips and/or stories? Feel free to share.

Slip Slidin' Away

As we all know, last week was Thanksgiving. I think I posted a blog here about how the week before I got mega sick with what appears to be a stomach ulcer.

While I was down, I couldn't eat much. I think now it's starting to show becuse my watch is slippin' and a slidin' and some of my pants are a little looser(probably just water weight). Now, I'm sure this wasn't the healthiest way to drop some lbs, but hey you can't control your weight when you're throwing up everything except pudding, juice, and spaghetti-os.

Even weider is that usually the little woman eats way less than I do, partially becuse she has to because of her lap band thingy has been eating more than me.

Oh well, no big. Soon enough I'll be 100% back to normal. UNfortunatley, I think I'll have gained all the lbs I lost back by then...lol

Inspiration

I'm sure there are plenty of you out there that have said you want to lose weight and that you'll start tomorrow. Then tomorrow gets here and you say you'll start the next day...then the next day...then the next day...etc. Do we see a patter here?

Don't be shy, I'll admit that I'm guilty of doing that too. Well, last week in doing my dropping and blog surfing, I came across these pics of Kate Winslet in Vanity Fair.

Kate has always been a champion for body image, so to see these pics (there is some debate over whether they've been airbrushed or not) is a bit bittersweet. She's not anorexic or anything, but she's noticeably thinner than she normally is. If these aren't airbrushed, then you have to commend her for the job she has done sculpting her body.

I love Kate Winslet, and as a guy with a little more meat on his bones that he cares to have, these pics have given me the inspiration to go on a diet and get back in shape. Wonder if I can get the little woman to join me.

Wish me luck!

Lighten the load

I was looking at some older pics pf myself and have come to the realization that I want to look like I did a couple years ago again. It is totally possible to drop the few lbs to get there. My problem will be sticking to a weight loss routine, especially when the gf cooks for 20 when there are only 2 of us..lol So, I'm going to weigh myself on Sunday, which will be a scary number, and keep a track each week until I'm at a weight or look like I want to. I'm ok with where I am right now, but I really don't want to have to go out and buy new clothes. I'm on the verge of my clothes not fitting. so, you can say this is an economic thing. Wish me luck!
