The bigger villain is....?

I've been doing my best to keep up with the hazing death story at Florida A & M and the child molestation scandal at Penn State.

It seems as if everyday there is some new at Florida A & M, but nothing that just makes you sit up and take notice the way that some of the things are taking shape up there in Pennsylvania.

I say thins because the guy that molested those boys in the shower has been arrested like 3 or 4 times sice the story broke, on different occasion for various things (not sure the exact number or reasons). Each time, though, he has been released on bail.

So, the guy pays for his freedom and can't really leve his house. That is part of my problem, but think back a couple years ago when NY Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress was arrested for shooting himself in the leg (on accident, nonethless).

This guy was denied any kind of freedom, not to mention he didn't get an early release. He had no priors, and yet they treated him almost as if he had shot and killed someone.

Top top that off, a few years prior to that, Michael Vick, who went to jail for that dog fighting ring was all but crucified because, heaven forbid, he killed some dogs.

Congress and the feds even got involved in making sure he went to jail as soon as possible and got a severe sentence.

These two men have served their time and are back on the field. Now, I ask you, are a man who shot himself and another who ran a dog fighting ring that much of a threat to society than one who molests children (and appears to be getting away with it)?

Something just seems to be off here, don't you think?

Remember that thing called forgiveness?

Apparently, the Philadelphia Eagles do as they signed Michael Vick. I couldn't be happier. No, I'm not an Eagles fan, as a matter of fact, this is bad for my Dallas Cowboys, but the man deserves to be able to continue where he left off. I've said this before, and I'll say it again, all he did was kill some dogs. Had he run some sort of child porn, prostitution, or human organ harvesting ranch, it'd be different.

I'm sure there are more than a few of you out there that agree with the fans of Philadelphia, and the papers, thinking that he should be made to suffer for the rest f his days. As you can tell, I'm not one of those people.

I believe in forgiveness, especially when it comes to something this minor. It's bad enough on top of his 2 yr prison sentence, he has to serve a 6 game suspension and can only play i n the final two preseason games.

Let's not forget that it seemed as if no team wanted to sign him. Obviously, this would be a PR nightmare, but I think it was also a matter of bad timing. Had he have been released back in April or so, then teams that needed a QB could have mad decision with him in mind.

I read an article this morning where some columnist was angry. not because he was coming back to the league. Not because he was going to be an Eagle, but because he wasn't crying. Seriously?!? He's expected to cry over some dogs? Yes, I suppose he should show some remorse, after all he was in charge of murdering animals, but think of it this way. When you kill ants, flies, roaches, mosquitoes, etc, or have an exterminator come in and do it for you, are you sad for them?

People need to get over the fact that he killed some dogs and let him get on with his life. It'll be so much better for everyone. There really is no need to keep acting like a girl scorned on prom night about this. Forgive and forget. Michael Vick is not Osama bin Laden, but you couldn't tell the way some people act.

***side note: yes, i am a supporter of Michael Vick, but not of dogfighting.***

All because of some stupid dogs?!?

If you're a regular reader of my blog, then you'll know that on occasion I have mentioned I ma no fan of dogs. I'm a cat person. I'm also a fan of Michael Vick. I don't pretend to believe what he did or that dog fighting in general is right, but the man just spent 2 years behind bars and now no one wants to give him a chance? Oh and the commissioner wants to add a 4 game suspension starting from when/if he gets to play in the NFL this year...at least that was the report this afternoon).

So, all this because of some dogs? Really? Do those slobbery, flea ridden, worm infested mongrels mean that much to folks? The way the media and everyone have treated Vick since this whole thing went down a couple year, you'd think he was Bin Laden or Hitler. Seriously, I think Saddam Hussein got more sympathy!

I know that almost all of you out there are in love with your dogs and that's ok. People are entitled to like what they like, but to treat them as if their humans to such an extent that it appears to be costing a man his livelihood is just plain wrong!

For those of you that haven't seen Vick play, it is a sight to see, let me tell you. I hope some team stops cringing in fear of their fans and public relation mumbo jumbo, but rather do what's best for their team. For goodness sakes, Minnesota could pick him up in the case Brett Favre (that's a whole different soap opera) decides to not play for them, since they don't seem to have any faith in Tavares Jackson.

I don't know, I guess I just thought we were a forgiving country, but to me this seems a lot like the Salem witch trials...all because of some dogs! Someone said it best last week, there are guys in the league that have done much worse than Vick, and haven't served any jail time, no suspension, and barely any mention of it, but because he's a high profile player and this involved many Americans favorite animal, he has been made to suffer. Weren't the two years locked away in a cell away from football, running up a debt long enough?

Guess not, because heaven forbid anything happen to a dog. I guarantee you had he been running a prostitution ring, been a gambling bookie, or some sort of Mafia boss, there would not have been this much outrage, and he would have been back on the field as soon as stepped out of jail. This is just shameful!

Vick is free!!!

Let me guess...most of you readers think he should have been thrown away for life with the key thrown away, right? Sure seems that many people have had that reaction. All he did was run a dog fighting ring.

There are many athletes that have done way worse that are running free and never even have to think about what they did. some of them didn't even go to court, yet Michael Vick has been all but crucified because of two things...a)the new commissioner (at the time) wanted to make a point and b)people (especially Americans) think dogs are God's gift from heaven and any crime against them should be immediately punishable.

I'm a little biased here as I was a fan of Vick and really don't care for dogs. I think they are evil creatures, but that's beside the point. The man did something wrong, he is finishing up his sentence, and deserves a fair shot.

Heaven forbid, some guy murdered or raped a woman...chances are they'd go in for questioning, maybe sit in jail for a couple of days and be back on their team, probably with a new contract, ASAP. It's just not right the way Vick has been treated.

I'm glad that he's free and hope that teams stop being so publicity shy and give the man a shot. He deserves it. It's rather hypocritical to let some of the guys in the NFL that have done worse keep playing while Vick is doing construction (even if it is part of his probation).

Reality trinity

I'm no fan of reality TV, as those of you who are avid readers are quite aware, but this is just too much. These 3 polarizing figures have to have something better to do than "grace" the screen with their presence.

Let's start with everyone's favorite Donald Trump hairdo wannabe, Rod Blogoajvic. This man, on top of having an impossible to pronounce and spell name, has been impeached, removed from office, and is facing federal indictment charges. Somehow, he thinks he's going to be allowed to go on NBC's "hit" show I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here. Since the whole controversy surrounding this man began, he has been on some sort of media blitz to try and clear his name, as if he did nothing wrong. Now, I'm not going to sit here and pretend I know all the details about his case, but there is just something unsettling about this? If I were in his shoes, I'd be more concerned with what's going to happen to me in prison and other more important things, rather than trying to hold on to my 5 minutes of national fame. Wouldn't you?

Apparently, having multiple kids warrants a show all on its own. There is already John and Kate plus 8 Now, it appears as if the Octomom, you know that woman who had octuplets, on top of her 50 gazillion other children (while not having any type of income) and won't go away, is negotiating for a reality show based around her life raising her kids. Why? Same as with Blogojevich, she wants to keep her 5 minutes of fame going as long as she can, because as soon as it ends, she'll be s.o.l. when it comes to raising those rugrats. Did I mention she's trying to patent the name Octomom? WTF?!?

I don't care what you have to say about Michael Vick, the man has talent. He made a mistake by running a dog fighting ring, but everyone just overreacted about it. People were, and still are, ready to crucify him over some dogs! Had he have raped and killed some girl, I doubt this type of outrage would have occurred. At least not this long. Anyway, he's soon to be released from prison and is shopping a reality show about his rehabilitation after prison. Now, of these 3, this makes the most sense, but would be even better if it was him trying to get back into the NFL, which may be a part of it. To my knowledge, it hasn't been picked up by any networks yet, but the way reality shows get sopped up like syrup by a biscuit, I think it'll happen sooner rather than later.

So, am I the only one that thinks these are all pointless attempts at furthering their 5 minutes of fame (except for Vick, whose fame comes from what he did on the field long before the dog fighting ring)? Will you be watching any of these?
