The Brett Farve Saga

What is it with NFL teams and their quarterbacks? Last year there was the unnecessary circus that surrounded and eventually enveloped Michael Vick and the Atlanta Falcons. This year, the drama bug seemed to be focuses on Chad Johnson (who is a wide receiver and not a quarterback) and the Cincinnati Bengals, but that was not the case. It appears to have headed up to the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field, the Green Bay Packers and Brett Farve.

This past season was one of if not the best season Farve had. Sadly it ended with him throwing an interception in overtime that sent the NY Giants to the Super Bowl. About a month later, Brett called a press conference and retired. Of curse, everyone and their mama was saying that he'd be back. As time progressed, reports started popping up that he was thinking about coming back.

Blah, blah, blah, yada yada, yada

Skip forward to about July. Brett announces he wants to come back, but the Packers say they have moved on and don't want him to come back. ESPN and many sportswriters have been having heated discussion left and right about whether they should let him come back or not.

MY opinion is, this is the man that has been the face of your franchise for the past 15+ years. He retires, but then changes his mind and all of a sudden you don't want him because you feel that a guy who had one good outing this past year, was good in college, and has never started an NFL game will be the starter? WTF?!? Something just isn't right about that in my opinion. Many writers and such have said that they think there's something not being told. The longer this goes on, the more I tend to agree with them.

Seriously, what's the deal? If I was running a team and had a living legend retire after his best season and then decide he wanted to come back, I'd jump through hoops to bring him back.

On top of not wanting him back, they don't want to trade or release him. Basically, the Packers are holding the man hostage. If they're so secure with Aaron Rodgers, then let Favre go. The man wants to play. I think they know he's the better qb, but don't want to admit that they're in the wrong.

The Packers are just being stubborn little bitches about this whole thing. Today, they finally decided that they may want to trade him. They also are offering him $20 million dollars to stay retired. WTF?!? They must really have faith in Rodgers to be doing that. I'm so gonna laugh when this whole backfires on them and they're sitting on the clock in April with the #1 draft pick because they think they're doing the right thing.

Until then, we can hope we'll get to see him look like this again.

The Packers should feel free to send Brett on over to Chicago, the Bears would love to have him!
