Growing up in mostly small towns, traffic jams were something I would only see on television. Now that I live in a big city, they are almost an everyday occurrence.
One thing that really gets my goat about these jams, though, is how people will drive on the shoulder until it runs out and then force themselves in. Seriously, is that going to get you anywhere any faster? Honestly, you're not doing anything but possibly causing an accident and more frustration for those that are already ready to get where we're going.
This is also something that happens close to red lights. Usually it's someone in a truck or sports car. They'll be in such a rush that they'll pass everyone up, then run into a red light. When that happens, I just sit back there and laugh. They were in such a big rush and really didn't get anywhere. lol

Oh my goodness, that is one of my pet peeves as well. It's like, do these people not SEE that they need to merge, or are they being deliberately dense?!?!
I agree. These manic drivers pull out all the stops, endangering others only to arrive 10 seconds earlier. Jeeez!
