So, in case you haven't bothered to read some of my earlier posts, or have been living under a rock for the past few days, Michael Jackson died last week.
I'm hoping that he has gone on to a better place. His music and memory will live on forever.
However, some people feel the need to bring up the negative parts of his life. They can't just leave him be.
I was reading one blogger who said they didn't understand how the nation could be so "ga-ga for a child molester". On Youtube, it appears as if there are people so pissed that Michael is getting such positive coverage they went to each and every single MJ video and posted disparaging remarks, some obscene and laden with expletives. Then we have Debbie Rowe, who is the mother of two of Michael's children saying she doesn't want anything to do with them and is making allegation that he is not their father. Let's not mention his father Joe, who isn't exactly known for being a pillar of caring towards his son, plugging his new record label in an interview last night.
Now, I'll go one record and say that the coverage is getting to be a bit much now, but there is no need to defame the man.
To those out there that don't think/understand how people can feel sorry for a "child molester", I say to you prove that he molested those children. I want physical proof. Until you can provide me with that, he is innocent. You're entitled to your opinions, but why must you feel the need to speak ill of the dead?
As far as Debbie Rowe and Joe Jackson, they have officially replaced the awful mess that is Speidi on my @#@#list, which is pretty bad.
Michael just wanted to be left alone for most of his life, so why is it people keep wanting to drag his name through the dirt for their own selfish means? Please, leave him alone and let him R.I.P. He doesn't deserve the treatment the media has been giving him, specifically CNN and the ones that would rather focus on the negative aspects of his life rather than the impact and joy he and his music brought billions of people over the years.
When they can pull off a feat equal to that, then they can think about saying his name, if they're worthy.
The way his death has turned into a circus is just disgusting.
A few days ago I posted about the overreaction to the characters of Mudflap and Skids in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. As promised, I said I would give an educated opinion to the characters and determine if this is true overreaction after seeing the film myself.
Well, I saw the movie Saturday, and came to this conclusion. PEOPLE NEED TO CHILL OUT!!!! That's right, there is nothing overtly offensive about these characters. They are clearly there for comic relief and are not trying to be some sort of racial stereotype.
Anyone that gets offended by this, or thinks they are offensive needs to take a look at themselves and ask why it is they are offended and if they would have been offended before these days of extreme political correctness.
While I wasn't offended, I did have some issues. First, there was no point to the gold tooth. The characters bordered on annoying, but no more than Spongebob (ironically, one of them is voiced by the same guy that gives Spongebob his voice).
A big stink was raised about them not being able to read. This was blown so far out of proportion it blows my mind. I was thinking they were given a book or something and it turns out they can't read, but it turns out they can't read ancient Transformer hieroglyphics. I wonder if those that made such big deal out of this can read ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics. It's the same idea.
So, as expected, it is overreaction to these two characters. There is nothing offensive about them.
What happened to the days when people had sense of humor about things?
If you care to read my review of the film, you can do it here
Michael Jackson haters just move along, this week is all about his majesty.
I had something else ready to go for this week's Music Monday, but instead I'm going to honor the "King of Pop". Enjoy these Michael Jackson songs.
"Billie Jean" The legendary Motown 25th Anniversary performance
"I Want You Back" with the Jackson 5
"Jam"
"P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)"
"You Rock My World"
...and finally, a song that I'm a little partial to because it was a solo I played my senior year in high school, "You Are Not Alone"
I don't need to tell you that there are a gazillion other songs that are just as good or better than these. I just picked a few that showcased the various stages of his career and honored his memory.
R.I.P. Michael

These days, no one bothers to watch commercials, but if we take a trip down memory lane, we can see that they used to be worth watching. Enjoy these retro moments!
I'm a child of the 80s, so I grew up on MTV being an all video network (with a game show or two thrown in there). No doubt a few of you readers did the same. As I've gotten older I still turn to MTV for the chance to watch vids, or at least until they decided music wasn't what they wanted to do anymore (thanks alot Real World).
Back in the day, everyone was watching MTV, but as they've put on more and more non-music programming, their ratings have steadily dropped. It appears that someone has finally pulled their head out of you-know-where.
Many executives and various other employees have been released as a result of the fact that the head honcho realized no one wants to see reality shows on a music network...at least not in the same vein as The Hills.
While many may wish the network to return to its roots (you would think with people bitching left and right for the past umpteen years, they'd have gotten the hint by now), but instead they're going to put....wait for it....MORE REALITY on the air!!!
They think by showing more "inspirational programming" such as the proposed 16 and Pregnant, viewers will come back in droves.
Maybe I've just become a bitter old fogey over the years, but I just don't see this bringing viewers back. On top of that, this hypocritical network is gearing up for their Video Music Awards in the fall, yet they haven't played a video all year, save for clips and splices at the end of their shows that aren't enough to say they played them at all.
Aside from the programming, I have to wonder why these people lost their jobs. I mean, they appeared to be safe for the past couple years or so while this crap was ruling the airwaves. Could this be recession related and their using the veil of changing their programming direction as a smokescreen? Hmmm...
After a long battle with cancer, Farrah Fawcett passed away yesterday morning. Sad part of this story for me is that, for some reason I was watching The View and Barbara Walters said that she wasn't long for the world. Of course, this goes back to the crying wolf thing because she's been saying this everyday since Farrah got low sick. Apparently, though, not long after those words came out of Miss Walters' mouth, Farrah left us.
She will be remembered for this iconic poster, her role on Charlie's Angels, and a few other roles. R.I.P. Farrah Leni Fawcett.
Earlier this week, Ed McMahon passed, then Farrah died. Sadly, a few hours later shock and awe rang out around the world (and, through no fault of his own, eclipsed her death).
(August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009)
There isn't a musical act that doesn't have some sort of influence from the "King of Pop". Yes, that includes country and metal/hard rock as well.
As I'm typing this, the coroner is performing an autopsy on his body. It is quite the shock that he is gone. The music world will never be the same.
Say what you will about his later years and the accusation that he molested children, (I happen to think that's just people with too much time on their hands wanting to bring down someone famous, but that's neither here or there). You cannot deny that the man was a talent. Why else would he be one of, if not THE biggest selling artist in history, and inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame twice?
R.I.P. Michael Joseph Jackson, you will be supremely missed.
In anticipation of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, I've been keeping up with all the news and whatnot leading up to the release last night.
Besides critics that don't seem to get the idea that this movie is not meant to be mentioned in the same breath as Casablanca, Citizen Kane, Gone With the Wind, and other cinematic masterpieces, something that keeps coming up is the apparent racist depiction that a couple of the characters have.
Now, I haven't seen the movie yet. I'm going to see it Saturday, so I reserve judgement until then, but I do believe people are overreacting. Just because they talk in jive and exhibit "African American characteristics" is no reason to get bent out of shape. Now, the whole not being able to read thing...I can see that.
These characters are being compared to the offensive black face characters and Jar Jar Binks from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. From what I can tell, they are there for comic relief mainly.
Why is it that whenever any character exhibits the slightest bit of racial characteristics, people all of a sudden play the race card and say the director or whoever is racist?
Now, if these were actual human beings, they may have a point, but fact is, they are giant alien robots! Is society so hell bent on crying foul, that they'll go so far as to attack CGI creations? They did the same thing with the previous Transformers as well, but the characterization of the "African-American character" wasn't as bad, and in all honesty fit his personality from the original cartoon (I should know, Jazz was/is my favorite. Shame he had to die...but that's a whole different blog).
Think of all the people you've been friends with over your life. Don't they all have different personalities, regardless of race? That's what I think the idea for these two is. I mean, they can't very well have the same persona as the other Transformers. Each one is different, so let them be different.
To me, calling this racist is like crying wolf. They do this so much nowadays that its hard to tell what is or isn't racist. For goodness sakes, look at the list of things that have been considered racist...Native American mascots, Speedy Gonzales (yet, not Pepe Le Pew), the upcoming Disney movie The Princess and the Frog, and the list goes on and on and on....
Am I the only one that thinks society needs to take a look at itself and stop accusing everything of being racist? In jr. high, I had a teacher that wanted us to use exclusively black ink. I called her an inkist...lol
At the rate we are going today, though, someone with the same idea as me, only more serious would accuse her of alienating blue and red ink and call her racist. What about black desks as opposed to other colors? White-out? Red grapes as opposed to purple? Get the picture?
I'm not going to sit here and say that there aren't offensive and/or racist things out there, because there are, but it is apparent to me that society can't tell the difference between a joke and seriousness.
After I see the movie, I'll be posting my own opinion on their characterization, but in the meantime, I maintain my stance that folks are overreacting!
The most popular sidekick since Robin passed away this morning in his sleep. Ed McMahon is a true legend and it is such a shame that his last couple years on this Earth were such a turmoil. I wonder if they cut his days short.
Rather than sit here and give you a rundown of his career (we all know about The Tonight Show, Star Search, and TV's Bloopers & Practical Jokes), I'm just going to take a moment and remember him in life rather than death.
...btw, where is my Publisher's Clearing House Check? lol
I know we all have things we do in the parking lot that may irk others, such as not returning the carts to the proper place, sitting in the car with the music blaring, etc.
We all always try for the prime spots. Some even take up the handicapped spots (at the risk of getting a ticket). I've never seen anyone hold up an entire line of traffic waiting for a spot, though.
...Until today!!!!
That's right, today I saw what extremes folks will go for a spot. I happened to be parked as close to the door as possible, short of being in the handicapped spot. As I was loading up groceries, this lady (in her pearl white Escalade, btw) decided she had the right to my spot. So, she put her car in park and waited while I loaded up all my groceries, which was quite a task, mind you.
While she was doing this, a line was forming behind her and it was starting to resemble the interstate around rush hour. This woman really wanted my spot.
I was half tempted to be evil and load everything up, then go back inside the store, but I didn't have time to do that. Ice cream was already melting, and it was too hot to leave meat and milk out in the car. So, I juts got in and left.
I can't help but feel irked at this, though. Do people really have to sit there and wait? There were plenty of good spots a little ways down for her to take, but because mine was the closest to the door, she just had to have it. Now, I don't wish to be judgmental. As far as I could tell, there was nothing wrong with her. If there was, then she should have had a handicapped sticker and parked in that spot.
Has anyone else encountered folks that sit and wait for your spot in the parking lot no matter how long it takes?
what say we get up and dance this week. Enjoy The Trammps "Disco Inferno"
I see you all out there getting down at your desks...lol

Female Hottie: Elizabeth Banks Elizabeth Banks isn't a household name...yet, but she is making a name for herself with roles on Scrubs, Role Models, and Zack & Miri Make a Porno, we are sure to see more of her.
Male Hottie: Morris Chesnutt I've been getting a lot of requests to put this guy up here, so, here he is. I don't really know too much about Morris, to tell you the truth, other than he starred in Boyz N The Hood, The Game Plan, G.I. Jane, The Best Man and the upcoming ABC series V. I'm sure his fans will be ready to drool at a moment's notice.
Random Hottie from a movie or TV show seen this week: Radha Michell This week's random hottie is totally random. Radha Mitchell is an Australian actress who is best known here in the states for her role in Pitch Black, a role that earned her this spot.
MILF: Holly Marie Combs This mother of 3 (her latest was just born about a month ago) is best known as Piper from the TV series Charmed. She has also had bit parts in various other TV movies and such. Not much I have to say about her, except she is a true MILF!
Classic/Retro Hottie: Heather Locklear This week's retro hottie is a bit more modern. Heather Locklear has been steaming up the screen for nearly 3 decades now, and yet she doesn't look much older than she does in that picture right there. Rumor has it that she is set to return to Melrose Place in the upcoming remake. In the meantime, keep your eye on your favorite show, she's bound to pop up. lol
I'm sure I'm not the only one that has grown weary of more than a few people that just don't seem to get the hint that no one wants to hear/see them anymore. These "celebrities" and others just don't get it. Their 15 minutes of fame (if they even had that) are more than over.
First up on my list have to be Jon & Kate. I've never watched Jon & Kate Plus 8 nor do I have any plans of doing so. There is just something disturbing about watching a family of 8 children and their everyday lives. How is this entertainment? Not to mention, every time I see clips of that show, it looks like Jon is ready to go postal on Kate. Now, all of a sudden, conveniently before the season premiere, all this infidelity news comes out. Coincidence? I think not. Now, they just don't want to go away...Kate more so than Jon. As a matter of fact, haven't heard anything about Jon, it's all about Kate. The ratings are down on their show. Speculation is that it has to do with all the news about divorce and whatnot, so what happens? They say they'll have a big announcement soon. Ugh! Guess they're not going anywhere anytime soon. --bangs head against desk--
Next we have Paris Hilton. Now, I will admit she has toned it down since her jail time, or maybe its just that others have overshadowed her, but she is still annoying. Just because she's the daughter of a hotel mogul does not mean she's entitled to celebrity status. There are a ton of actors and actresses out of work that deserve the treatment she's getting, but instead because daddy pays for everything, the media all but bows down at her feet. Her sister, Nikki, was just as bad at first, but has since stepped out of the limelight to create her own fashion line. *GASP* She wants to make a name on her own. Little sister is wise, why can't big sister follow in her footsteps? Did the fact people literally went to see House of Wax for the one scene where she dies not tip her off? what about the fact that every movie she's been in has flopped? No need for me to mention her music career...or lack thereof. The only thing she has done that has been any sort of success was The Simple Life, which eventually led to her losing her best friend Nicole Richie. Now she's so desperate to find someone to like her, that MTV (total geniuses over there) has given her the chance to do so in a reality show. The first one apparently left her in Europe somewhere, so she's trying it again. Good grief, Paris, take the hint and go away!
Whatever your political beliefs are, you can't say that you're not tired of all this back and forth between the parties. Can't we all just get along? Dick Cheney was as quiet as a mouse, (except for his heart problems and shooting some guy in the face) while he was vice-president, yet now he yap-yap-yapping. Rush Limbaugh, who probably came out of his mom telling the doctor he wasn't delivered right, is doing all he can to discredit Obama. As bad these two guys are, they pale in comparison to Sarah Palin. When she first came into national attention last summer, she was a breath of fresh air for the Republican Party. A smart, sexy female, which was a contrast to the the perceived notion that Republicans are stuck up white men. However, like a new toy, the lustre wore off. Since she and John McCain lost the election she has been doing all she can to stay in the spotlight, even making a HUGE fuss over a harmless joke told by David Letterman. Who is running Alaska while she's trying to drag out her fame is my question.
There many others that could go on this list, but none have reached the point of annoying even the most calm and collected as Heidi and Spencer Pratt. If ever there was case to stop making reality shows because they create these faux "star", these two singlehandedly take care of that task. The on;y reason I even know of them is because Joel is always making fun of them on The Soup. Fact is, though, that there are people that actually watch their show The Hills. On top of that, NBC thought it would be a smart idea to have them on there excuse for not showing real programming this summer, I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here (the show is on 4 days a week...WTF?!?) This backfired on them, though, and every episode they were on had lower and lower ratings, yet once they left, the ratings went up. Heidi appears to have gone to the Paris Hilton school of fame because she's had two songs released. Sad part is, they make Paris sound like Celine Dion. Yes, it's that bad. Spencer thinks he's God's gift to the world and is a cocky bastard. Whether this is a character they're playing or not, the act is wearing thin. E! even has a poll up asking if they should stop doing stories on them, short of something important like them dying or getting arrested, etc. Seems like the only people that care about these society leeches are MTV, who bend over backwards to make them happy. When they showed up on an actual network getting interviewed, they seemed to be shocked that they weren't asked stuff like "what movie premiere are you going to" or "how is L.C." or something like that. After the interview they went crying to Ryan Seacrest (as if he could do anything), saying they weren't treated fairly. I wouldn't be surprised to see more interviews, if they have to happen at all, rake them across the coals.
Here's the interview with Al Roker. Who do you think the villain is? Did he mistreat Heidi? Was he just doing his job and they just couldn't handle it?
Will someone please tell me who it is that's in charge of PETA? Whoever it is that is pulling the strings over there these days must be on some supreme power trip.
I mean, the organization began as a respectable group who fought for animal rights, such as the way they are treated on movie and TV sets and what not.
In the years since its inception, though, they have gotten to be more and more radical in their beliefs. Nothing wrong with that...this is a free country after all, but these days they're just teetering on the loony.
For instance, I seem to remember reading that they wanted to change the name of fish to sea kitties or something like that in n effort to get people to stop eating fish. WTF?!?
They wanted Ben & Jerry's to replace cow's milk in their ice cream with human breast milk. *SIGH* What happened to the days when they would accost a woman on the street for wearing fur by throwing blood on her? Those days seem normal compared to what these fools say now.
The most recent act of ludicrosity has to do with President Obama. The other day he was being interviewed by one of the news channels and a fly flew in. In what resembled a scene from The Karate Kid, as one person put it, he laid the smack down on the fly with martial arts quick, catlike reflexes which resulted in the fly's death.me
This got PETA's panties all in a wad. I don't know about you, but I've swatted more than a few flies in my day and haven't given them a second though. Does that make a bad person? No, it just means that I don't care to be pestered by an insect who feeds on waste and, in my opinions, is a step below mosquitoes and a step above roaches.
Why they made such a big stink about this has me dumbfounded. It was just a fly. It's not like he choked a cat or something. Maybe I'm just not thinking like they do, but something just isn't right here. They're making too big a deal of this. It was just a fly, not like it was anyones pet or anything. UGH!
A little less than a year ago, Hurricane Gustav came through here and took a good portion of the roof off the carport. Well, yesterday, the complex finally paid to get it repaired.
Sad part is, this is a downgrade...at least I seem to think so. I mean, this thing hangs off about 5 ft off the front and doesn't come to the fence on the other side. WTF?!?
Chalk this up to another "brilliant" decision by the homeowner's association. They cut down the trees a few months ago, saying they weren't necessary. Now, when high winds and everything are involved, I can understand cutting the branches back and all, that isn't the issue. My problem with that is, they add to the atmosphere around here, keep a little bit of a breeze flowing in the courtyard (not to mention keeps it from getting too hot). These petty people that live here, though, don't seem to get that, or at least they didn't until recently when we've gone most of the month without rain, and have had to have the air conditioners running on full blast because it's too hot.
What do you say we enjoy some classic rock from Led Zeppelin. Hope you enjoy "Immigrant Song"

Aren't we all glad we don't have to hear anymore ads or see that little thing scrolling at the bottom of our TV screens telling us about the big switch?
It's only been a couple of days and already I'm wishing they'd go back. I only have cable, but since yesterday morning my picture has been fuzzy. I think this something to with the cable company, though, and they seem to be working on it. If not, then my channels and Internet are going out every few minutes for no reason.
I hope they get this fixed soon. Still, you would think they'd have thought to have this fixed before it actually happened, y'know? I realize some things just happen, but they were given an additional 6 months to fix all this stuff. It's all rather frustrating. At the same time, I guess I can't really complain, at least I have all my channels(the higher the channel, the clearer the picture).
Female Hottie: Anna Friel First of all, I had no idea she was British until just recently. I'm such a slacker! So, who is Anna? Well, if you were a fan of Pushing Daisies, then you will know her as Chuck, Ned's girlfriend. She can currently be seen on the big screen with Will Ferrel in Land of the Lost. I'm sure we'll be seeing more of her in the future. In the meantime we mourn the fact that we won't be seeing her or one of the best shows to ever grace the small screen.
Male Hottie: Jimmy Smits Jimmy Smits is another in a long list of men women swoon over that I just don't see the attraction. Chances are if you're a fan of dramas, you've seen him in your show. I remember him from NYPD Blue and his smaller part in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
Random Hottie from a movie or TV show seen this week: Sophia Bush One of today's hot, young, up and coming actresses, Sophia earned this lucrative spot with her role in John Tucker Must Die. She currently stars on One Tree Hill where she met her husband Chad Michel Murray. Man, that guy is lucky!
MILF: Sasha Alexander Sasha Alexander is not a well known actress...well, at least she's not a household name, but look at this woman. She's totally hot! I last saw her in Yes Man, but she's also was a major cast member in the early days of NCIS. Her most important role, though, it being mother to her 3 year old girl.
Classic/Retro Hottie: Stockard Channing 31 years ago, this woman did a little movie entitled Grease. Has anyone heard of it? Didn't think so. lol Her role as Rizzo in that flick all but cemented her legacy in Hollywood. If that wasn't enough she kept on acting, even picking up a few awards as the First Lady on The West Wing. Last week she picked up a Tony Award or two and looked like she hadn't aged a day!
Tomorrow night Pushing Daisies airs its (unfortunate)series finale. Excluding those of you out there that are/were fans of the show, how many even knew about it? My guess is maybe 1 or 2. Why is this? Its because there have no ads running for it, yet ABC bombards you with ads for The Bachelorette, Wipeout, and even reruns of Grey's Anatomy.
It really is a sad case. Especially since they pushed Pushing Daisies down everyone's throat the summer before it started, then the writer's strike came, and it seemed as it they could care less about the show, despite it racking up awards and accolades. At the first sign of trouble, they cancel it. I'm not going to go on a rant about that, though.
Daisies isn't the only show to suffer from lack of advertising. One of my favorite shows from last summer, ABC Family's The Middleman, had a similar marketing plan. Every chance they got they were showing ads for it, then the show aired, and except for right before episodes aired, there was never any mention of it, unlike its counterpart(which is still on the air...hmmm...) The Secret Life of the American Teenager.
Now, think about the shows that get tons of advertising. Have you ever heard of any of them being in any trouble? Other than Chuck, I can't think of any.
Now think of all the shows that get little to no advertising. How many of them last? If you said few to none, then you are exactly right.
Now, I hate to say that a little thing as advertising an influence what we watch, but apparently, it does. The sad part about it is that networks seem to want certain shows to survive, while others are destined to fail.
Anything airing on Friday night, or worse Saturday night means it's not long for the airwaves. It didn't use to be that way, but then again, stamps didn't used to cost 29 cents.
A few shows that aren't getting the proper treatment are The Goode Family (recently moved to 7:30 CST on ABC), Bones (they change the time every other week, but it airs on Fox. they have picked up on its advertising, recently, though), and 1000 Ways to Die (it varies, but it airs on Spike). All are head and shoulders above most of the crap that is being advertised/aired this summer *Cough* Jon & Kate plus 8, Wipeout, I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here *Cough*
I'm sure there are a ton of shows that many of you can think of that never got proper advertising, right? What are they? Why do you think they're not getting the proper treatment?
Think back to when you were a kid. Didn't you run around all day (and night)? What about riding a bike up and down the street and around the neighborhood? What about playing in the park/playground?
When was the last time you did any of these things? Chances are, unless you're a professional athlete, its been years, right? That, my friends, is one of the reasons people are overweight these days. Something happens as we reach adulthood and our activity level drops severely as a sacrifice for our work...and you know I'm right!
What about your kids/grandkids? Do you see them going down the same path? Probably not, because these days kids are stuck inside playing video games and texting. Not to mention people are so paranoid about their kids getting snatched up, molested, or worse that when/if they go outside its only under strict supervision, or they're only allowed to play in the backyard (that's how my sister is with her kids, but I'm sure there are more like her). Yet, we wonder why there seems to be a new report every day about how kids are overweight.
---side note: Nintendo Wii, "Dance, Dance, Revolution", and a few others do keep you active while playing, so they are exceptions
It's not just the fact that we've forgotten what it's like to be active. I have a conspiracy theory. It is my belief that the fast food industry is in cahoots with the weight loss industry. Together, they are making a killing.
Think about this...we are so lazy that we don't take the time to make dinner the way it used to be, so instead we go to fast food every night. After a few weeks, we find that our clothes are harder and harder to fit into, if at all. This leads us to buy some Slim Fast, go on Weight Watchers, or something along those lines. After the weight goes down, the cycle begins again.
Pathetic isn't it? Now do you want to put down that Big Mac and go run around the park?
I'm no fan of this Carrie Prejean chick, but that doesn't cloud my judgment. When Trump ruled that she should keep her crown despite her semi nude photos, I'll admit I was wishing she'd lose it, but at the same time, I thought she should be given one more chance.
Before I go any further, I believe gay people (not sure what the PC term is these days) deserve the rights as everyone else. I know quite a few of you out there don't think so, and some of you do. That's fine, as long as we respect each other's opinions.
As I was saying, her answer at the Miss USA pageant, which she is still bringing up and saying it cost her the title (can we say sore loser) may very well have been her undoing.
The reason I say that is that she was thrust into the national spotlight for week aster the pageant, doing the whole media blitz and whatnot. However, while she was going around bragging about how God thinks gays are wrong and all but throwing a party when Prop 8 was overturned, she was neglecting her duties as Miss California.
Being a pageant queen is a job of sorts. Imagine if you didn't do your job for a few months, wouldn't you have been fired? Probably wouldn't have taken as long, but the answer is yes.
Now that she's been relieved of her duties, she's writing a book (is there anyone who doesn't write a book after their 5 minutes of fame these days) and is saying that had she not given that answer, she would still be Miss CA. Well, she's right. I don't want to say that she shouldn't have spoken her mind and all, but the fact that she took those few seconds and made a career out of it is deplorable. I for one am glad she got fired, and regretful that she's still going to be around spewing her gay hatred around the world just to make a few bucks (you know that's what this all about in the end)
I'm sure you've all seen these commercials for movies coming out that say they're in 3D, right? Well, have you noticed that more and more of them seem to be popping up?
I saw Up this weekend (review is on my movie blog) and chose to go the non-3D route. Now, I was expecting to see a handful of people if any in there. I was totally surprised to see a full theater. One of my students works in the theater and said that the 3D sold well in the opening weekend, but since then, its been like a ghost town in there.
Now, in these hard economic times, one has to wonder what is it that studios are thinking with this 3D movement. I'm not sure what the exact different in ticket price is, but I think it's like $5 or so...that's $5 for some plastic glasses you can't use anymore, because the next 3D movie you go to, you have to buy a new pair.
My theory about 3D is that the theaters got together with the studios and realized that people weren't buying their expensive food ($6 for a plain old hot dog?!?), so to get "revenge", they dusted off the 3D concept.
Of course, if what I hear is true, and the economic downturn continues, people may still be finding way around it. Unless the government decides to make it a law that all cameras are 3D like they've done with the HD broadcasting thing.
What do you think? Is 3D just a new fascination? Cover up? New way to suck people's money? All of the above?
Since I slowed it down last week, I figured this week we'd have some fun with one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite movies The Aristocats. I hope you enjoy "Ev'rybody Wants to Be a Cat"

Female Hottie: Natalie Portman This little hottie is best known as Princess Amidalya from the Star Wars prequels, but she has done quite a bit more than that. She recently took a break from acting to pursue other interests. I think she was working on her degree or something. A face like that is made to be in front of cameras.
Male Hottie: Harry Connick, Jr. Musician/actor Harry Connick, Jr. has been making ladies swoon with his voice and good looks for years now. His breakout acting role was on the show Will & Grace, where he played Grace's husband Leo. His time on that show boosted his album sales and apparently his sex appeal. Enjoy ladies!
Random Hottie from a movie or TV show seen this week: Kaley Cuoco Kaley first came into the general public knowledge as John Ritter's eldest daughter on 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter, which she followed up by appearing on the final season of Charmed. A few minor spots here and there and lending her voice to Brandy of Disney's Brandy & Mr. Whiskers, we get to the reason she's in this spot. Currently, she can be seen as Penny in The Big Bang Theory.
MILF: Lela Rochon Can you believe she's 45? Lela is not the most popular actress on the planet, but she has starred in a few films, such as Any Given Sunday, Boomerang, Why Do Fools Fall in Love?, and her biggest role as Robin in Waiting to Exhale. She is the mother of two beautiful children. Hopefully we'll see her in front of the camera again soon.
Classic/Retro Hottie: Julie Newmar As you can tell by the photo I selected, Julie Newmar is best known as Catwoman from the old Batman show. There were a handful of actresses to portray Catwoman during the show's tenure, but, make no mistake she was Julie's character. Catwoman was not the only character Julie played, she also had roles in film and stage as well as developed her own line of pantyhose, plus there was a film that pays homage to her, Too Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar. Julie still lives in L.A. and is currently writing 5 books.
I don't normally do the shopping in our house, so I'm not familiar with items that are still in circulation or not. Anyway, this morning, I went to by some toilet paper.
Why is this blameworthy news? well, the act in itself isn't, but let me ask you all something...does anybody remember when this stuff came in colors other than white? I seem to remember being able to get it in pink and blue, at least. I could just be imagining things, though.
Now, I didn't go specifically looking for colored toilet paper. That was just an observation I made. The random things I happen to see or think of, huh? lol
I'm sure you've all read or hear of the death of David Carradine. I just happened to watch Kill Bill (both volumes) a couple of weeks ago. This isn't the first time that I've watched a movie shortly before someone dies, as a matter of fact it's a recurring theme.
On top of that, whenever I pull an older movie out, or even consider one, within a day or two I read on-line that they're thinking of remaking or, the word they like to use now is reboot. This past weekend I considered pulling out Short Circuit. Monday morning, I read that they have greenlit a reboot. GRRR!!!
Maybe if i stop watching movies this madness and death will stop. Alright, maybe not, but hey, I can dream, can't I?
Last night AMC showed both Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2 (see my reviews on my other blog (the link is right there in the sidebar).
What surprised me was that this is all part of a 25 yr celebration. As I told some of my facebook friends last night, I can't believe it's been 25 rs. I remember the first time I saw it gave me nightmares --hangs head in shame-- Now I love it, though.
20 yrs ago the sequel came out. Where has the time gone? Anyone else out there in shock about this like I?
Turns out that yesterday was a double credit day on Entrecard. Since it had been quite some time since I had a massive dropping day, I decided to try and take advantage of it. That was the plan, anyway.
Too bad it didn't happen. Firefox decided to go all wonky on me and many sites I went to opened and then locked. I had this problem before in IE, but Firefox just started this phenomenon recently.
I don't need to tell you that this is frustrating beyond frustrating, and hinders my reading and dropping abilities. No offense to those blogs that I normally read and drop on, but sometimes I want to search for "new blood", but if blogs lock up my comp like that, it dissuades from doing so, and really dissolves the purpose of dropping for me.
On top of this, for some reason, Firefox isn't remembering my passwords. Now, I've heard that it goes through these cycles where it does that, so no big...or is it?
UGH!!!! As bad as these issues are, they'd be a lot worse in Internet Explorer. Yes, I did try to go back and do things over there...didn't work. Oh well. Hopefully I'm not the only experiencing such issues.
For this week's Musical Monday selection, I figured I'd go the mellow route and bring you Nina Simone's "Ooh Child".
