Blogs and viruses

As I go through various blogs during the day, I've noticed a recurring theme that is becoming more and more prevalent. People are picking up viruses from certain blogs, but don't know which ones.

It appears, though, that everyone that has picked up a virus, has contracted it by using that tool that lets you drop on 10 or so at a time. I'm not sure if this is just coincidence, but I don't use that thing in favor of doing my droppings the old fashioned way and *KNOCK ON WOOD* have had no issues, other than typical computer stuff.

However, from this point on, I will be more selective in who I drop on. I already don't waste my time on money making blogs or those that don't drop back. In the not too distant future, I may be cutting out all drops except for those that I know of.

I guess we all need to be careful out there.

I've had extra browsers open while dropping from my drop box through the EC toolbar, but not a virus.

The extra browsers were ads, but I could never find the site that triggered them, even when I would immediately repeat the last ten drops.

I don't do as many drops now and in time will probably leave Entracard. But for now I visit sites I like and when I can, I visit new sites from my drops.

I like things the "old fashion" way.
It takes me a long time to drop now as I read where I drop. I use to only drop then leave but now I have my little "net" of friends I love reading what they have to say.

No virus here, I use a Mac which is safe from most ugly stuff that makes a Windows based PC hurt.

I was thinking the same thing, cutting down my list and just dropping the ones I've known the longest. However, you can't ever know when even they pick up viruses from somewhere else.
It's just crazy.
What exactly is the point of these viruses, anyway? Why do people intentionally make stuff designed to crash unknown victims' computers?
Must be some really angry hackers and programmers out there!

Mike- that's the best way to do it, apparently

shydub- that's happened a couple pof time to me, too and iwas like WTF?!?

Lea- I've though about leaving entrecard, but not certain if i'm going to do it just yet, but i may do it sooner rather than later.

Tiddles- old fashioned in the best way. betterto stop, read, and maybe even comment, than to drop and go.

MamaFlo- Lucky!!!

Fitness Diva- hope I'm one of those
that you've known the longest :)

I was wondering about an advert I saw that promoted 300 drops in a minute!! I thought to myself "that defeats the purpose... isn't this "dropping" thing another way to say - Hi, I was here?"

I prefer to do things the old way too :)

I'm new to entrecard, so it's great to read this post and know what to stay away from - thanks!
