I know it's summer and there nothing but crap on TV. This year most of that junk is just stuff that networks gave the green light to as a precaution because they didn't know how long the strike went on.
Occasionally the summer does deliver some diamonds in the rough. One such show is The Middle Man. Awesome show! Rem ids me of Get Smart (the show, not the movie). Of course, I can just about guarantee you either haven't heard of it or don't like it because it's too cheesy or the fact that it's on ABC Family.
I almost didn't give it a chance, either, but I figured, what the hell, and have loved it ever since. Why don't you all give it a chance. Monday night at 10/9 CST and again at 12/11 CST. It's definitely worth a shot. It's a good show that doesn't deserve to be cancelled. Oh and *GASP* IT'S NOT REALITY!!!!!
Here's some info on the show:
A struggling female artist named Wendy Watson is recruited by a secret agency to fight against evil forces.[1] The pilot episode features a super-intelligent ape who escapes captivity, murders several members of the Italian Mafia, spouts a half dozen catch phrases from American movies on the subject including Scarface, Goodfellas and The Godfather, before being revealed as the pawn of the true villain.
The Middleman is a freelance fixer of "exotic problems," which include mad scientists bent on taking over the world. Because of Wendy Watson's coolness under pressure and photographic memory she is recruited by the Middleman and his grumpy robot assistant Ida. The series includes various pop-culture references, including many involving comic book super-heroes, such as when Wendy refers to herself as "Robin the Boy Hostage."
Wendy lives in "an illegal sublet with another young photogenic artist," her activist friend Lacey. Other characters of the show include lyric-spouting Noser, and Wendy's problematic ex-boyfriend Ben.
After you check it out, let me know. I'm sure there are some episodes on the ABC Family website, too.
