Remember cartoons?

Growing up, I didn't have cable TV,and satellite was nowhere near as convenient and accessible as it is now. I do remember coming home after school and turning on cartoons. I also could do this in the mornings. Well, this morning, I had a doctor's appointment, so there was no need for me to go to work for an hour, then leave, and then go back. So, I just turned the TV on in hopes of seeing some cartoons. There were none to be seen, except for on Cartoon Network and the preschool cartoons on Disney and Nickelodeon.

what happened to the good old days when you could turn on the tube and see some quality animation? These days i seems like he morning is all about news. There was nothing else on, except for a couple of sitcoms...and of course, the Olympics, but that's a special case.

The afternoons aren't much better. Back in the day, I could come home and watch Ducktales, Transformers, Freakazoid, Taz Mania, etc. Now, they have been replaced with sitcoms. Are sitcoms that unimportant now that they get reduced to after school slots? I can't tell you how outraged I am about this!

Nothing against Reba, What I Like About you, etc, but they don't belong in after school programming. There are a ton of 'toons out there that could be shown. Cartoon Network, Boomerang, etc. can't show them all! Someone tell me how we got to this point! When did Nickelodeon and Disney channel abandon what made them popular in favor of teeny bopper shows?

Speaking of Nickelodeon, it seems that every time I flip through there, Spongebob is on. Nothing against Mr. Squarepants. Hell, I'm glad they're even showing cartoons, but I know they have other cartoons they can show. Fairly Oddparents comes to mind. I could just be flipping through a marathon, or Spongebob hour or something.

Yes, I'm nostalgic for the good old days when cartoons used to come on in the morning and afternoons, but I fear they've gone the way of sitcoms in primetime, non-reality Tv, and music on MTV. *SIGH*
