Hair-raising

A while back, I blogged about how schools have stubborn dress codes. Well, guess what, there is more to that. The Tampa Rays have made the playoffs for the first time in their short history. Needless to say, the city of Tampa is excited about that fact. One of the characteristics of the players is a "Rayhawk"(fancy name for Mohawk or fauxhawk, depending on who's wearing it). A student at a jr. high in the area decided to cut his hair in this style and, guess who decided to freak out about it and put him in suspension until it grows out? That's right, his school! WTF?!?

Last I heard, his parents pulled him out of the school and enrolled him in another one that doesn't have a problem with individuality. Of course, the school released some sort of politically correct statement saying that it was understood in the dress code....blah, blah, blah, yada, yada, yada....and we support the Tampa Rays wholeheartedly. What a load of b.s., huh?

Would someone please tell me how hair can be distracting? I mean, unless it's like 10feet in the air and the person sitting behind you can't see the board or something, then I don't see the problem.
